"Mom," I cried, "I don't want to leave my babygirl for this stupid ass thing. It's not like he'd actually chose me."
"Mommy," my daughter Hope cried, her lower lip trembling, " please don't go."
"Oh babygirl, momma doesn't want to leave you, but I have no choice, Alpha Roman has to find his Luna."
There came a knock on the door, I walked over and opened it. There stood Seth and Dean, "Oh great," I muttered, grabbing my bag, Hope ran over and hugged my legs, "Bye momma, I love you."
"I love you to babygirl, be good for Grammy and pappy."
I stood and walked out the door, fighting back the tears that were going to come.
"Look, I'm sorry for what we said the other day, we never meant to insult you," Dean said.
" Don't worry about it," I said, "it's not a big deal, happens all the time."
"Well Alpha Roman wants to talk with you as soon as we get there, because of what happened."
I stopped dead in my tracks, "Shit," I said, " I should just go home now."
"Nah, you're good, he liked that you stood up to us, besides, Gretchen put in a good word for you with him."

We walked up to the front of his home, dammit I thought, this is not going to be easy, seeing all the other women walking up to the house. One of the women walked up to Dean and Seth and said, "When do I get to meet Alpha Roman?"
"As soon as I say you can meet my son," Sika said, "now my dear, I hear that my son needs to speak with you?"
"Um, yes sir."
"No need to be nervous, he won't bite," he said.
I let out a nervous chuckle.

Sika led me to Romans office, when this little girl came running up to us. "Hi pappy."
"Hi JoJo. JoJo I'd like you to meet one of the selected, Melissa."
"Hi," I said, smiling slightly, remembering the stories about how his previous Luna had died giving birth.
"You're pretty," Joelle said.
" As are you sweetheart," I said, thinking of Hope.
"You look sad, don't you want to be here?" She asked.
" I do, it's just that I miss my babygirl."
Sika said, "Joelle, go find your Grammy, we will see you later."
He started walking, then turned and said, "I wish that you would've brought your daughter with you."
"I couldn't put her through this, she is too young to understand this."
"How old is she?"  He asked.
" She just turned  five last week."
" Joelle is seven, she needs a friend, maybe I can convince my son to let her visit."
"Thank you."
He smiled. As we stopped in front of a set of double doors. He knocked, the doors opened, revealing a large office, "Come in," Alpha Roman said, his father walking up to him, whispering something in his ear. Roman nodded, and said something back. Sika exited the room, Roman turned towards me, my eyes immediately looking down.
"I'm sorry for Dean and Seths actions the other day, I'd like to make it up to you. My father said you have a daughter?"
I looked up, and nodded.
"As soon as I can get her here, you can have as much time as you need."
"Thank you."
You're welcome, now I think I better welcome the rest of these women, would you care to walk with me?"
I nodded, slipping my hand into the crook of his elbow. He smirked, "By the way, I'm glad you stood up to Dean and Seth, they needed that. They're too cocky sometimes."
I think I turned a bright shade of red, because he laughed.

As we got to the dining hall, the women started oohing and aahhhing, some called out about the Unknown not being worthy. "Enough," Roman growled, "any of you who have a problem with her, can leave now, I will not tolerate any of that in my home."
I tried to back away, but his grip on my hand became tighter, his eyes found mine, a small smile creeping onto his face.
The woman who had asked when she would meet him stood up and said, "Thank you Alpha Roman for inviting us here, I'm sure no one meant any disrespect to her. It's just that we don't understand the Unknowns."
He stepped in front of me, "For those of you who don't understand Unknowns, they are the most unusual of the packs. They are your special talents, some have multiple, however, they are also at times, the most dangerous, for those of you who don't remember there was one about 5 and a half years ago, who attempted to kill my daughter, his family tried to hide him, but we found him and extracted him, the name of this rogue Unknown was Robert."
My eyes widened, he just confirmed my worst fears, I had thought he had just left Hope and myself, but he was a rogue Unknown.
Sika stepped up to me and whispered, "You knew this rogue Unknown? He was your daughters father, wasn't he?"
I nodded.
Roman turned, seeing the look on my face, he saw the pain in my eyes. "Sika, may I please leave, I can't breathe in here."
