Heartbeats.
Darkness.
My eyes fluttered open only to be greeted with the piercing hospital lights above.
What happened?
I tried sitting up but pain erupted in my ribs and back.
My fingers were stone cold. ;)
There was a fairly heavy weight on my left leg. I couldn't see what it was, rising and falling back.
I felt a brace against my neck. It stopped me from moving an inch.
"Hey." A raspy voice said from my right.
I whipped my head to the right before hearing a crack. OW!
Dang reflexes.
The voice let out a small chuckle. "Hold on, I'll adjust the bed."
Blake was it?
"It's Blake." he said, reading my thoughts.
The top part of the bed below me started inclining. Slowly, a mop of blonde hair came to view.
My breath hitched.
What. The. Fuck.
"He never left." Blake said knowingly.
My eyes stood Brad's blonde mop of hair, his back facing the door.
"Ashlynn and I had to bring him his meals. He only left your side to shower or pee."
"Not poo?" the childish side of me said humorously despite the situation.
He let out a soft chuckle. "Yeah, that too."
Lynn, wonder how she's holding up. Knowing her, she must've been worried. Friends like these are worth the world.
My eyes lingered on Brad for a while. Feeling the weight of his head and crossed arms resting on my leg. It was feeling numb from lack of blood but hey, this is Brad we're talking about.
Brad fucking Symons.
The guy thats been my best friend since I was 3.
The past came rushing back like a tidal wave.
This guy.
The guy that has been there for me all this while.
The one who stood up for me.
The only one that made me feel human when others said differently.
The one who was loyal to me.
...
The one that betrayed me.
The one who left me when I trusted him.
The one who made me feel worse than I already do every single day.
The one who broke me.
Suddenly, my eyes scorched with anger and if my bones weren't breaking, I'd shove this thing away from me.
I was engulfed in frustration, anger and everything in between. It was like my vision was blocked by walls of hatred.
I could never be friends with him.
Let alone love him.
What the fuck was wrong with me?
-
The door burst open when Lynn came in with a full Starbucks carrier. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
