I looked at Kale “that’s not funny,” I said.
“It wasn’t meant to be” Kale said
“And besides not many guys notice me” I said looking down.
“Yeah right. You just never see them” Kale said looking at me with a weird look. I was going to ask about the look but then Brett came back with drinks and handed me one. I looked at the drink and it looked weird. There was some white powdery stuff floating around it. It must’ve been stale or something. I took a drink and gulped it down.
“Thirsty?” Brett asked smiling.
“I guess I was,” I said looking at the empty cup. I started to feel a bit woozy.
“Are you okay?” Kale asked me probably seeing my face. I could never conceal how I felt. I was a bad liar.
“I’m fine,” I said trying to smile.
“Well then why don’t we go for a walk?” Brett asked.
“Oh okay” I said and got up. Stumbling more like it. Brett grabbed my hand and steadied me. “Thanks” I said. “No problem” Brett smiled at me. “I’ll be right back,” I told Kale. “Kay” Kale said.
Brett pulled me towards the door. We walked out to the sidewalk. I suddenly tripped. But Brett grabbed me just in time.
“I feel like I’m drunk or something,” I said.
“I don’t think that’s it” Brett smirked.
“I don’t think I should be walking right now. Let’s go back inside” I said leaning on Brett.
“You’re right. You shouldn’t be walking. Let’s go to my car” Brett said leading me to a dark blue car with tinted windows. I was wary but got in or rather fell in.
“How are you feeling?” Brett asked me.
“Not goo-“ I was cut off by darkness.

Kale’s p.o.v.
Kelsey took off with that guy Brett. I don’t know how I felt about that. I kind of felt like maybe I should stop her. I had this bad feeling about Brett but maybe I was just jealous. But I don’t know why I would be. I mean Kelsey and I are just friends right? No. Wrong. We are but I kind of want to be more to her than just her best guy friend. I don’t know when it went from being there for her to trying to be with her. I know it’s hard for her to notice guys who like her. But, I thought maybe I was more noticeable since I am right in front of her. I guess Kelsey is just ignorant. She is observative of her friends but not anything involving herself.
“This seat taken?” a blonde asked me smiling.
“Uh, no” I replied.
“Thanks” the blonde sat down. “I’m Heather” the blonde smiled.
“Kale” I said and looked at my phone. It was 8:30. About thirty minutes since Kelsey and Brett “went for a walk”. Kelsey probably liked him cause he was forward and in college. She deserved someone smart and nice but I’m sure that wasn’t Brett.
“Waiting for someone?” Heather asked.
“Not really” I replied.
“Your girlfriend must be lucky to have you care about her that much” Heather said looking at my face.
“I don’t have a girlfriend,” I said looking down.
“Well then this girl, she may not notice you yet but she’s lucky to have you. You should ask her out” Heather said then got up and left.
I wasn’t sure if I’d just talked to a drunken, inquisitive, blonde or a psychic. Either way it was freaky how she knew. Maybe it was a sign. What was I thinking? There’s no way a drunken blonde is a sign.
I got up and walked outside to look for Kelsey. I saw a car with fogged windows and peered to see Brett in there. Then I saw the faint shade of Kelsey’s black hair. I realized the windows were fogged for a reason and turned away disgusted.
I walked home leaving Kelsey at the party. I had no idea she was such a freaking whore. Doing some guy she just met. I never thought she would act like that.

Kelsey’s p.o.v.
I woke up in a car with a killer headache. I recognized the car as Brett’s car. The last thing I remember was getting into the car then darkness. I must’ve passed out. I pulled out my phone and gasped. It was three in the morning. I climbed out of the car and shivered. It was a cold night or should I say morning.
I sprinted home. No doubt I was grounded for an eternity if my mom and Jesse found out. I stopped at the front door and twisted the knob careful to not make a sound. I closed the door gently and tip toed literally across the hard wood floor to my room. I made it to my room and I collapsed on the bed. My headache prevented me from falling asleep so I just sat there thinking for a while until I finally drifted off to sleep.

I woke up the next morning wary of talking to my guardians. I got dressed super slow. I went so slow it took me ten minutes to put on my shirt. I finally left my room five minutes before my bus was suppose to pick me up. I rushed through the kitchen to the door. “Bye mom” I muffled quietly.
“Kelsey, I want to take you to school today,” my mom said grabbing my arm and leading me to the table.
“Oh. Why?” I asked wary.
“We need to talk” my mom said sitting me down and sitting across from me. I sighed and got ready for the lecture.
“You came in rather late last night. Three in the morning is not acceptable especially when your curfew is eleven” I guess she had been up. “Sorry” I muttered. “Sorry’s not going to cut it this time,” my mom practically shouted. I looked up at her. She looked down at me and continued.
“I’ve never grounded you before because I didn’t really like the concept of it but I can’t think of another punishment,” my mom said looking off to the side.
I sighed. I did deserve it. I came in late. Way late. I had no idea what happened last night. Why I suddenly passed out and why I woke up in Brett’s car.
“I saw you come in last night” my mom looked at me sternly.
“You did?” I asked fazed. I hadn’t seen anyone last night.
“Yes. I noticed your eyes were red and your shirt was backwards” my mom said angry.
“They were?” I asked surprised. I hadn’t noticed that. Why was my shirt backwards? What had happened? And why were my eyes red?
“Yes and whatever drugs and guy you’re doing, you need to stop” mom said calmly.
“I’m a virgin I swear. And – I’d…-no, I’d never do drugs” I stuttered.
“You’ve never taken to stuttering before. That only proves my point” mom said smug.
“I didn’t I-” my mom cut me off. “Save the lies. You’re grounded for a month. No computer, TV, or phone” mom said putting her hand out. I sighed and slipped my phone into her hand.
“I’ll be in the car,” I said walking outside to our car.
“I’ll be right there” mom called after me.
I got into the front seat and sighed frustrated. Why a month? I didn’t do drugs. I didn’t do a guy. I am a freaking virgin. Why doesn’t she believe me?
