"Mac, get the hell up or you'll be late for school again!" Jake, my older brother, screeches through the doorway.

I slowly lift my hand to my face to wipe my curls away. I look at Jake, he's still in his pajamas and his dirty blonde hair a mess. Ugh, I thought. It's a Monday. I turn on my stomach, burying my face into my pillow in an attempt fall back asleep. As I turn around, a huge light flashes before my eyes.

"Jake, close the freaking curtains and get out of my room," I say sluggishly, my voice cracking.

"Sorry, sis, but this is not my choice," he says, the corners of his lips tugging into a wide grin, his hazel eyes staring at me evilly. Before I can register any of his words in my disheveled, not fully awake mind, he pulls his long arms from behind his back and quickly shoving a bucket full of slushing, icy water into my face.

"WHAT THE FUCK, JAKE, GET BACK HERE, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" I scream as he turns and runs out my doorway laughing his ass off.

I weakly stumble out of bed frozen, literally, from shock, and the water. Oh don't worry I'll get him back...This is gonna be a hell of a morning.

I trudged over to my closet and rummaged through my clothes to find an outfit appropriate for this FANTASTIC Monday.

I decide my outfit and run to the bathroom to get showered and changed.

I hop out of the shower, draping a big, yellow towel over my exposed body. I stare at my complexion through the steamed mirror.

I have curly, light-brown hair hanging off my head dripping wet, light brown eyes, and my tan skin. I'm thin and not that tall. I mean, who cursed me to be so short that I can't reach the the cookies on the top shelf in the pantry without using a goddamn chair?

I tear my eyes away from the mirror grabbing my clothes off the counter and quickly throwing on a typical outfit for a typical, crappy Monday (I like saying typical a lot, obviously). I pull on a pair of battered blue jeans and a sweatshirt to cover up the hideous, old t-shirt hidden underneath. The sweatshirt reads "Chimner High: Where Everyone Shines!" on it to signify that I give at least a little crap about going to school. Ugh, I think to myself. They're slogan is so bad that they should just change it to: "Chimner High: Where You get a Participation Award if You Complete the 10th Grade!" I grabbed my big, heavy backpack and slipped on a pair of black Converse high tops.

I head on downstairs where my mom is sitting at the kitchen table drinking her cup of coffee and reading the daily paper. My mom looks just like me (obviously, I'm her daughter), brown curly hair that came down her head, stopping a little bit below her shoulders, tan skin that shows her Spanish background, the creamy brown eyes that melted whenever you looked at them, and the warm smile she gives whenever she saw you. Yep, just a typical mom (back at it again with those typicals).

I shoved my backpack onto the floor next to the door and walked back into the kitchen as my mom began talking to me.

"Hey, sweetie," my mom greets me with that warm, innocent smile. "You better hurry up before you miss the bus... again."

Uh huh, I thought. As if I didn't obviously know that already.

"I know, ma, I'm just am having a slow morning, that's all," I say grabbing the chair and pushing it to the pantry.

I jump onto the chair and grab the Cheerios from the top shelf.

"Why do you have to put the cereal on the highest shelf?" I say. "I really don't appreciate waking up every morning to that box of Cheerios taunting my height, you know." I jump off the chair and push it back to the kitchen counter.

"Honey, stop exaggerating so much," she tells me like it's no problem at all.

I sit down and glumly chow down on my cereal as I formulate a plan to get revenge on Jake in my head. After I'm down to the last crumb, I grab my bowl and throw it into the dishwasher as I run upstairs and turn down the hallway leading right, and appear at the door of Dylan's room. I knock loudly. "Dylan?"

"Yeah?" he questions as he opens his white bedroom door. He's short for his age, just like me. His light brown eyes open and close sleepily. His light brown hair sticking up in all directions. "Just because you and Jake wake up early doesn't mean I have to. You know, an eleven year old kid's gotta get more sleep than his older siblings."

"I know, sorry to interupt your well needed beauty sleep, Little Bro," I say. "But I've got a plan."

His mischievous little eyes light up as he realizes what I'm talking about and comes out of his bedroom standing next to me. "Lead the way, sis."

***

I sneak up quietly to the bathroom door with Dylan following close behind. I place a soft knock on Jake's bedroom door as I begin to speak. "Hey, Jake, you better get out here, your new iPhone's cracked pretty bad." I quickly swap places with Dylan and he gets into position.

"3...2...1," I yell as Jake opens the door to be surprised by Dylan standing on a stool dumping a wave of icy cold water from the bucket, drenching his clothes. "Told ya I would get you!"

"Looks like you just got a taste of your own medicine," Dylan chides.

I run down the steps to escape Jake's wrath as I hear him howling in frustration from the bathroom.

I bid my mother a quick goodbye and open the front door as I hear Jake screaming at Dylan to go back to the bathroom so he could dump icy water on him, too.

I turn back before I step out. "Oh, mother," I say as she opens her mouth to say something. "You may need to drive my dear brother Jake to school." I turn back around, bracing myself for whatever meets me on the other side.

Duh, I say to myself. Obviously the poorly watered lawn greets me just like every other morning. I step out the door.

I just can't wait to get to school. I sigh and head to the bus stop.
