A couple minutes after I tell mom that I think the hallucination might be real, she runs out of the room and to the stairs. I'm guessing she's checking to see if it's real or not. Then I hear her scream and I know it's too late. Panic rushes through me and I run out of the room to see what happened. Instead of dad, it's Jonathan and instant guilt washes over me like a flood. His body hangs from the chandelier just like dad's did in my dream. I look at everybody with tears in my eyes. I look at Jacob, then to mom, then to dad. What is going on? Who will be next, if there is a next time? I run to my bedroom, not wanting to see my little brothers dead body hanging from the ceiling. There I see Oliver. Maybe he has answers for me.
"Oliver." I cry and run to him and hug him. He hugs me back and holds me close. "What's going on? Why is this happening?" I ask, which he responds flatly. "It's just your imagination." He says, still holding onto me like I might disappear. "What? How is it my imagination? How is this happening?" I ask. Will he know the answers?
"You're afraid of your family being hurt, but you keep dreaming and thinking about it and it makes you feel like you're living it. Then you feel like you have to live with it for the rest of your life, when really it's only you thinking it. Making it up." He explains and confusion overcomes me. I pull away from him and he's completely serious. "What happens if it reaches me?" I ask. "Right now, you're in a really deep sleep. You've been asleep for almost a week now. You're also in the hospital and every time somebody dies your heart beat spikes up. The doctors don't know what's going on with you. But all they know is that you don't have much longer to live. If it reaches you and you die, then you're actually dead in real life and trapped here forever."
"How much time do I have?" I ask, terrified. "It depends when your dream wants you to die." He says darkly, and panic hits me in the gut. "How do I get out?"
