Mari could feel herself tense up. It was just too much. Everyone in the room staring at her and-and⎻

"Mariella!"

Mari's wide eyes finally focused on her 13 year old cousin, Ella, who's angry expression told her more than any words would. Ella glared at her before turning back to the crowd.

"Let's start again, yeah?," her cousin sang sweetly to the audience and Mari knew that was her cue to stop being such a fuck up and play her part.

Mari took a deep breathe before she began to strum her guitar again. She blocked out the seemingly large crowd and focused on the chords as her cousin's beautiful voice filled the room.

She could feel eyes on her but she pushed through it as her cousin's voice guided her through the song. When her cousin finally let the last note hang in the air and the crowd exploded into applause, Mari quickly bowed before running off stage.

She held on to her guitar until she was safely locked in the bathroom. She locked the door before she place her guitar near the door. She turned on the faucet and quickly splashed her face with water as she began to hear the loud pounding on the door.

"Mariella!"

It was her Tia Lala. The pounding pestered on and Mari looked at herself once more in the mirror before grabbing her guitar and opening the door.

On the other side stood both her Tia Lala and cousin Ella. Both wearing their signature disappointed expressions, Mari just frowned and let her shoulders droop as she knew what they were both going to tell her.

"Mari, sera mas mejor que-" ("Mari, it would be best if-")

"I know. Ya se. Las veo otro dia. Le digo a mi papá que le mandan sus saludos." ("I know. I know. I'll see you another day. I'll tell my dad you said hello.")

"Mari," her Tia Lala starts to follow Mari as she begins to walk away towards the nearest exit. "Here!"

Her Tia grabs her hand and places a couple of bills in her hand. Mari looks up and sees her cousin Ella give a firm look. She smiles as she stuffs the money into her back pocket.

"Gracias y disculpas." ("Thanks and I'm truly sorry.")

They both hug her before Mari makes her escape.

Once outside and four blocks away, Mari finally lets herself cry. She stops and sits down on the sidewalk, not caring that this was not her neighborhood and she cries. She doesn't sob; mostly because she already looks strange enough sitting on the sidewalk, holding a guitar without a guitar case.

She stays there for a bit until a small orange cat jumps on her startles her into the ground.

"Yo, what the-!"

The cat, itself, just stays on top of her guitar which is on top of her as she just stays down on the sidewalk.

"Fuck everything, man."

"Maddy!"

The cat gets off as a man nears Mari. It runs towards the man and Mari finally gets up. Brushing off any specks of dirt, Mari keeps a hand on her guitar.

The man, now carrying the small orange cat, nears her.

"I am so sorry. Did she knock you down? I am so sorry. I opened the door and she just-"

"Nah, I'm okay. La gata no mas aprovecho que la vida me tiro primero." ("The cat just took advantage that life already threw me down.")

"Hijole, disculpas." ("Damn. Sorry.")

Mari smiles, noticing how the cat in the male's arms was beginning to squirm, "It's cool. I just need to get home. She does, too."

He smiles, "Yeah, you would think so but I'm guessing it's more the alley cat that lives around here that she wants to visit."

Mari nods, making sure her guitar was secure over her shoulder.

"Adios, pues," she says as she begins to walk away. ("Well, bye.)

"Me llamo Oscar."

Mari turns around, she looks at his raised hand before she waves back.

"Mari!"

He nods and smiles, still holding on to his squirming cat before he crosses the street.

Mari adjusts the strap on her guitar before going in the opposite direction.

It isn't until Mari is sitting on the train, looking up that she sees that the man with the orange cat is all over the movie poster for the new Star Wars movie; it hits her that she's met a movie star tonight, who cat had knocked her over on the street.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me."
