Jonathon's POV
This is great. He’s so relaxed and he’s smiling. This is perfect and we only got here a few hours ago. The resort is beautiful and to his liking but everything pales in comparison to his smile right now. With Tristen standing here between my legs, simply talking as if we were back at home in the library brought me great ease. As we drank, I could tell that Tristen was itching to explore the resort some more, so when he told me he was going to do that I left him be. He ordered beer before walking off.
“I’ll come find you if I need anything.” I said as Tristen walked away. He simply nods in response as he continued walked off. I watched him until I could no longer see him before turning around and ordering a beer myself and holding conversation with the bartender. However our conversation was constantly interrupted by the continuous flow of women. They were nice and handsome looking women, but their looks still dulled in comparison to Tristen. Eventually I gave up hope of carrying a conversation with the bartender and attempted to have conversations with the women around me. They hung onto every word I said like all women of the World of the Living. It was truly annoying after a while and difficult. Because Tristen insisted on speaking like the youth of the World of the Living, it was difficult not to fall back to my usual manner of speak. If Tristen were here now, I’m sure that he would be on the ground with hysterical laughter, I thought to myself at one point, causing myself to smile.
“And what is that you’re smiling about, Jonny,” asked Rebecca, a redhead from California.
“Oh, nothing at all.” I replied kindly as I smiled at her. “Please call me Jonathon.” I insisted for the sixth time, but all she did was laugh. I groaned inwardly at her high pitched giggle and wondered where on earth Tristen could be.
“Another beer, please.” I said as spotted Tristen coming towards the bar. I was preparing to call out to him when Tiffany, a very attractive dark skinned woman, pulled me into another conversation. I entertained her as I watched Tristen and some kid walk over to the bar. Tristen ordered another beer and something else but I couldn’t hear what it was because of the giggling women around me. Tristen and the kid walked off and a few minutes later, the bartender returned with my beer and a napkin. I took them both and saw Tristen wrote a message for me in Latin.
“Meet me in fifteen by the tree closest to the path,” was all it said. I breathed a sigh of relief and began trying to pry myself away from the women.
“Ohh, come on Jonny.” Rebecca whined. “Stay and talk with us some more.”
“As much as I’d love to, but I really gotta go.” I said with a fake smile plastered to me my face. I quickly walked away, praying that the women would not follow me as I looked for Tristen. I found him rather quickly and he was still with the young man from earlier. It was obvious the boy was a little younger than Tristen; he practically looked like a baby to me with his baby face. As I approached the blond haired boy and Tristen, someone hollered from the opposite direction and the blond haired boy panicked. He took hold of Tristen’s hand and took off with him as a tall dark haired boy came charging at them. I waited until Tristen and the two boys were gone, knowing that this was going to end in some confusion and if I added to it than Tristen would be angry with me instead of the two idiots that were pulling left and right. My poor old wife, I thought humorously as I leaned against the tree that Tristen was standing at.
