"Well aren't you a fine piece of ass." A mysterious voice rang out. The young boy, standing in the middle of the alley quickly turned, searching for the ominous voice. Suddenly, in front of the boy, a tall, thin figure appeared. "Yes, a fine piece indeed. And I'm gonna have it." The last words left a puzzled look on the boys face, but he didn't have time to react. The dark figure had already sprung upon the boy. Sinking his teeth into the boy it was mere seconds before he blacked out.
Back in his own room, he woke with his head pounding. There was an eerie taste of copper in his mouth. After washing his mouth, he got dressed and ready for school. When he arrived, he was greeted by the one person he hated the most.
"HHHHHHIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE" A high pitched screech echoed throughout the commons area. The boy stopped in his tracks. "Awe, come on, not gonna talk to me?" He turned around and was met, face to face, with a short, normally quiet girl named Dee. Her presence was irritating, to say the least. However, standing next to her was Lin, a tall, beautiful blond with whom he had been sweethearts with since the beginning of high school. Recently had been different, though. She had moved on and was beginning to become interested in Dalian, the best friend for years. The boy was snapped out of his trance when Dalian walked up to them.
"Hey man, what's up?" He said nonchalaughntly as he placed his arm around Lin. The boy tried to respond but his tongue felt so unnatural in his mouth he could only slur a few words.
"Somfin' ssstranghhh happened lasth nigh." All around looked surprised at the boy, who was normally well spoken, struggling to form a coherent sentence. At this point, Lin decided to intervene. Pulling the young man aside, she pulled his chin to have him look her in the eyes.
"Are you doing okay? You seem to be having... Issues." The boy opened his mouth but before he could slur a single syllable Lin pulled out her phone and opened a notepad app. "Here, look, Link, I'm going to head to class. I'll meet you there and I expect an explanation." With a quick kiss on the cheek, she was off down the hall. Link was now left alone in the commons area. He began typing frantically as he walked down the hall. Within seconds, he was across the school grounds, he only realized this abnormal speed when he looked up. Seeing the halls in disarray, he noted that he should walk slower.
When he got to class, he swung open the door nearly breaking it on the wall. After a few minutes of awkwardly trying to fix the door, he decided to just sit down. In no time, Lin was turned around and waiting for her phone.
"So, how are you doing?" She asked, taking her phone from Link's hands. As she read a disappointed look came across her face. "This is no help, you don't remember anything, do you?" Her leg started to tap as she grew impatient. "Link..." Lin took his hand with a worried look in her eyes "I'm worried that you're losing yourself. The people you've been hanging out with... The things you've been doing. I-- I don't think we can continue to talk if you're going to keep doing this." Link was shocked. He felt a cold stab in his chest. He pulled out his pen and started to write on his hand
"I can change, I'll come over tonight and I will show you that I can change. I am sorry."
"Link, I swear to God, this is your last chance. You so much as look at think about drinking again, I will end you. Got it?" Link shook his head vigorously. The pain in his chest loosening.
