Eight years later....
Aunt Clarisse took Kapi into her cottage and raised her when Kapi was just 8 years old. Kapi did not live happily with Aunt Clarisse . Aunt Clarisse treats Kapi like she is a maid. For example, she fed Kapi with leftovers from her dinner. Kapi also had to do all the chores in the cottage. Aunt Clarisse yelled at Kapi whenever she didn't obey her. She was scared of Aunt Clarisse's wrath. That's what made Kapi do every single command that Aunt Clarisse said.
It was dawn when Kapi woke. She made her aunt's black coffee as she normally does every single morning. If she didn't make Aunt Clarisse black coffee, she would be spanked with a homemade palm leaf whip. Kapi's bottom stung badly when she was whipped by Aunt Clarisse . She then made herself breakfast, hot cakes and honey. Aunt Clarisse didn't feed Kapi most of the day, so Kapi had to make her own meals without being caught. "GO GATHER ME SOME BERRIES!"barked Aunt Clarisse . Aunt Clarisse liked bossing around people, but she liked commanding Kapi around the most. Kapi rushed out the wooden, bamboo door as fast she could to avoid being spanked. Kapi carried a large, woven straw basket as she followed the dirt, forest path.
She accidentally bumped into an old lady along the way to the raspberry bush. "Sorry ma'am, I didn't see you coming." said Kapi. "Ohh it's alright, it's just a little bump." answered the old lady in a raspy voice. "Do you need help carrying those baskets to your house ma'am?" asked Kapi. "Awww that's really sweet of you. Yes, I do need help carrying all of this food to my house." replied the old lady.
