- 1 year later –
“Clarissa! You’re going to be late for your first day of your last year of school. Get down here before I drag your butt outta bed.”
That’s the annoying voice of my ‘precious’ mother waking me up from a blissful sleep. She’s always nagging me to get out of bed now, she hasn’t learned that I am not nor will I ever be a morning person.
“Right, I warned you young lady. Now you leave me no choice...” I heard her calling to me before I heard the elephant-like foot-steps stomping their way up the stairs.
This game is popular between me and my mum; she would break through my door and throw my duvet onto the floor for starters, then she normally tries to drag me out of bed by my feet and when that doesn’t work, she plonks her bony bum beside me and sings like a dead cat at the top of her lungs. That normally does it for me.
Before she could storm into my girly room with posters of Jared Leto hung almost everywhere but the roof and the floor – I decided that it was probably better to get out of bed before the singing started, so that’s what I did, much to my mums disappointment as she thrust open the door.
“Ha! Now I don’t have to listen to your screeching voice” I hissed triumphantly.
“Yeah, yeah there’s always tomorrow young missy, now go down stairs and eat your breakfast, it’s on the table waiting for you.” She sighed, obviously upset about not getting a chance to sing.
She left the room to let me get dressed. Around ten minutes later, I finally decided on what I wanted to wear; a cute purple-checked mini-skirt with thick black tights, a cute deep purple vest with slits cut randomly into the front of it, courtesy of Kaz, who gave it to me on my birthday last year. We are still inseparable, I hope we’re still in the same classes as we were in last year, I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her. She was great after I split up with that douche Aiden, seriously she is all I could ever ask for in a friend – supportive, mental, fun, kind and most of all, there for me through the darkest of times. I finished off my punkish attire with a pair of beautiful purple heels, high enough to make me as tall as my mum.
Nothing has changed much since last year… I haven’t found my ‘prince charming’ as of yet but that doesn’t bother me, I’m single and absolutely loving it! I've met a couple of frogs and had more than a few bad snogs but all In all, the only things that matter right now are my friends and my family. Though, wouldn’t it be something if I met my mister right this year though?...
My toes never had the chance to land on the bottom stair before I heard a knocking at the front door. I gasped in excitement as I knew who it was. I raced to the door and opened it pouncing into the arms of a very startled, Kaz.
“Kaz! you’re early, come on in” I squealed, practically pushing her into the hall.
“Ok, ok Clara, no need to get too excited, it’s still morning you know, shouldn’t you be hanging yourself with a noose or something? You do know what today is dont’cha?”
“’Course I do, it’s the beginning of another year that we’ll be in the same classes and talk about rubbish all the through just to keep us sane!” I replied giving her a big bear hug.
