The Starry Night

The TV was on in the dark room. A single picture stood out in the light of the screen: Shirogane Takashi
Keith sat on the couch in disbelief that the one person he loved most was pronounced dead. The Kerberos mission was a failure due to pilot error. Keith didn't believe that for one second, he knew Shiro was an excellent pilot. As the news started to sink in, Keith bursted into tears and curled up on the couch."You promised me you'd come back..you promised me." He hiccuped a few times as he cried himself to sleep.

He woke up in his barracks."A dream.." He muttered as he sat up in bed."..Its just a dream..Shiro's not dead." Keith got out from under the covers and slipped on his jacket and left the room. He walked through the Altean castle hallways."Keith." He heard his name being called. He turned around seeing non other than Shiro. Keith's lips parted."..Yea? What's up Shiro?" Shiro approached him. Keith could feel himself become lost in his gray eyes and calm demeanor which made him feel so warm inside.

"Ever since we arrived on this planet..we really haven't had a chance to catch up..I want to talk to you, Keith." Shiro looked at him with a soft expression."Yea..I'd like that." Shiro smiled down at him."I found a spot we can talk. I think you'll like it there." Keith nodded and followed him to a balcony outside the castle. It was silent between the two of them.
"Shiro.."
"Keith."
They both spoke at once. They blushed."You go ahead first." Shiro said as he turned his attention toward him. Keith bit his bottom lip lightly."Keith?" Shiro looked at him concerned. Suddenly Keith hugged him tightly and buried his face into Shiro's strong chest. Shiro stumbled slightly but kept his balance. He wrapped his arms around Keith and felt his body was trembling."Keith?" He asked worriedly and lifted Keith's chin up. He met with Keith's eyes that were pouring with tears. Seeing Keith sob like this struck Shiro's heart.

"I missed you so much Shiro. When I saw you on the news that night..I never wanted to believe it. I knew there was no way you were dead...because you promised you'd come back to me." Shiro's eyes widened slightly."Oh, Keith.." He hugged him close and protectively. Shiro had forgotten many things that happened during the Kerberos mission but he could never forget that promise he made to Keith or how much he loved him."I'm here for you now..I won't ever leave you again. We'll stay together from now on." Keith smiled a bit as Shiro wiped away his tears. They sat down on a bench together under the starry sky.

Keith looked at Shiro's cyborg prosthetic and touched it with care."..Shiro..what happened? How did this all happen?" He asked as he looked up at him. Shiro was silent for a moment."...I wish I could tell you..but my memories have been scrambled and everything is just a blur.." Keith lifted his hand up to Shiro's cheek and caressed it."I'm just glad your back. I was so lost without you." Shiro gave a small smile and leaned down, his nose touching Keith's."I love you, Keith." He blushed a rosy red and rubbed his nose gently against Shiro's ."I love you too, Takashi." Shiro hadn't heard Keith call him by his last name in a long time and it made him happy.

Shiro leaned down and kissed him passionately as he held Keith close in his strong arms. It felt so nostalgic and so right. After a long kiss, Keith rested his head against Shiro's chest and enjoyed the view of the starry night sky.
