icarus says: i want to fly
icarus means: i want to kill this sadness within me
icarus means: losing him felt like burning and the smoke crocheted between my lungs keeps me prisoner to my grief. i feel like i'm dying.

icarus jumps: plunging herself into the skies without a fleeting flicker of hesitation. he follows. he would follow her to the ends of the world if it came down to that.

icarus flies: the clouds taste of freedom and the wind caresses her flushed cheeks. she feels alive again with him besides her.

icarus thinks: he outshines even the sun and a thousand infernos.
icarus thinks: i would do anything for him
icarus says: try and keep up!
icarus means: do not fall behind. the sky is outraged by mortals who dare defy the gods. we dance a thin line. stay close to me.
icarus means: you are all i have, and i can't lose you, too.

icarus screams: the sound sends shivers searing down his back, makes his hands shake and it breaks his golden heart.

icarus falls: down down down. drown.

( and apollo weeps for her. myths never told the world how much losing her would destroy him. )
