Chapter 4

I ran towards Jacquelyn, determined to save her.

She hadn't seen me yet, and the guard was too busy watching her the keep her from escaping to notice me. I noticed that the lights were slowly dimming, probably because of Damion. I was thankful for it though. If I wanted to, I was able to see in the dark the same as I can see in the light.

I hovered at the top of the ceiling, flying to where they can't see me. I landed right behind the guard, who I now recognized as the only other person in this place that talks to Damion. I reached my arms out, ready to snap his neck when he suddenly leapt forward, grabbed Jacquelyn and turned around with her in my arms to face me.

"Let her go!" I yell at him. I knew he wouldn't, but it seemed like a reflex.

"Tamani?" Jacquelyn yells out. I can tell she can't see me, but I was happy she recognized my voice.

"It's me. Listen Jacquelyn, don't move. I don't know what he will do." I could smell her fear, but she didnt show it at all.

"Tamani, get out of here. Go help the other escapees out. Don't worry about me."

Even though I knew she was basically offering to die, I couldn't help but notice what she said was slightly cliched. I know I heard that line a bunch of times before in movies or some crap like that.

I decided to not respond, but instead I turned to the guard. "What would it take for you to let her go?" I ask him, emotionless.

He just looked at me, smirked, and suddenly lifted his left arm to wrap it around her neck, covering most of her face with his forearm, while holding the other side of her head over her ear. I knew that posistion. It was how I killed the other guard. With his arm like that, he could easily break her neck.

I stood completely motionless, but then suddenly lunged at him.

He jerked Jacquelyn's head to the left, making me stop. He didn't break her neck, but I could tell it hurt her.

"What are you going to do now? I have you precious one in my arms, and I easily kill her. Hmmmm... What w-" I would never know what he was going to say next because the next thing I know he is falling to the ground, unconcious, with a very angry looking Damion standing behind him. I hadn't even noticed him.

I rushed to Jacquelyn, helping her up.

"Are you okay?" I ask her.

"Peachy." She resonds with my answer from earlier, causing me to chuckle.

"Let's get out of here." Damion grumbles from behind us.

He grabbed onto my Jacquelyn's arm and started tugging her away from me behind him to what I assumed would be the exit.

Damion was walking quickly, and made Jacquelyn stumble a bit. "Let go Damion! I'm not a puppy!"

He let go, but didn't slow his pace. "Come on, we need to hurry up."

"Well sorry, but I can't necessarily go too fast because I have gotten out of shape from being locked in a cell!" She whisper-yelled at him.

Damion looked about to argue, but I got tired of it. So, I did the thing that seemed easiest at that point. I picked her up, throwing her over my shoulder.

"Hey! Let me down!" She yelled, hitting my back.

"Nope." I stated simply.

After me running with her over my shoulder hitting my back, she gave up after about five minutes and instead wrapped her arms around my torso, holding on for dear life. (As if I would drop her. Very funny, Jacquelyn!)
