*Troye's POV*
I opened my eyes, delighted as I was met with the picturesque view of the plane descending through the clouds and down to the earth again. It was truly a beautiful sight to wake up to, my eyes instantly narrowing down on the now visible scenery around me.
"Excuse me sir, I've been instructed to remind you to fasten your seat belt, as we will be landing shortly," I glanced to the right, sighing as I was brought back to reality. My eyes met with the air hostess to see she was adorning a slight scowl, her facial expression quickly changing to a polite smile. I nodded and shyly smiled back, returning my attention once again to the scenery outside while attempting to fasten my seat belt. My fingers fiddled with the belt, another small sigh escaping my lips in frustration as I was forced to focus my attention on the seat belt in my lap. The plane continued its further descent; the chatter around me began to raise volume. For the last time, I turned my attention to the moving scenery through the window.
This wasn't my home. My real home was in Australia, but home simply didn't have enough to offer to be home. I got into this school on a scholarship, it was completely on the off chance that I got accepted. I loved science with a passion, but I didn't consider myself smart. I was just average, the way I liked it. The thing that confused me most was how the heck they chose me, a small town Australian shadow, to attend one of the most prestigious science academies in the whole of the continental US. Whatever, I was happy to be here.
The plane landed with a thud and my attention turned to the crowd of people cheering with delight due to landing. Americans. Deciding whether I should get off first or last in order to avoid people, I opted for the first option, grabbing my bag from under my seat. I slung it loosely over my right shoulder, side stepping as I crept down the aisle of the plane. I wanted to be home, I was tired.
My next 15 minutes mostly consisted of me weaving in and out of people's way. I had my main bag and it dragged solemnly behind me, growing accustomed to my frantic weaving patterns. I let out a deep breath of relief after making it to the door marked "Arrivals". Now to find my name. I scanned the room halfheartedly, my eyes barely recognizing my name on the whiteboard held up for me due to my tiredness. I dragged myself towards the unfamiliar person holding the unfamiliar board. I nodded at the unfamiliar man, my gesture evidently coming off as rude. He grunted in response and our conversation ended there.
A few minutes passed and we were in the car. With me in the passenger's seat and him in the driver's, I turned my head to the window. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, let alone a complete stranger. The last thing I remember was the sight of moving trees, before I drifted off.
