I've always been scared of closets. I always sleep with a lock on every closet door in the house. I know what you're thinking, why is a twenty year old man scared of a closet? Well let me tell you why. It all started when I was maybe five or six. I was in my bed trying to sleep, until I was woken up by the sound of my closet door opening. I jumped out of bed and went to close the door. When I got to the door I see two glowing red eyes. The eyes started walking towards me. I slammed the door and ran to my bed.I hid under the covers, hoping the red eyes wouldn't come out. I hear the closet door creak open. I peek from under my blanket and watch the door open wider. I watch a man standing, eight feet tall, climb out of my closet. He stands up as straight as he can, with his head tilted to the side, avoiding hitting the ceiling. I remember his piercing red eyes and that he has no nose. But a mouth with his teeth exposed. He has no hair and his left arm is longer than the right. He wears a black trench coat. His skin is white, as if it has never has seen the light of day. He walks towards my bed.
I dart back under the covers. I see his shadow hover over my blankets. I scream for my father. I hear the bedroom door open. I peek out from the covers and see my father standing in the doorway. He is frozen with fear. My mother peeks around him "Andrew!" she screams my name, which snaps my father out of his frozen fear. He runs towards the man with red eyes.
He throws a fist, but the man catches it and bends his wrist backwards, snapping it like a twig. He grabs my father by the neck with one hand. He lifts him up until he is eye level with the man. He squeezes my fathers neck hard enough that the pressure pops his head clean off. His head hits the ceiling while his body fell limp to the floor, gushing blood. My mother screams in horror and runs to grab me.
She carries me down the hallway, with the man right on our heels. She runs into the master bedroom and shuts the door, locking it before the man could open it. I hide under the bed in fear and my mother is trying to tell me its ok to come out. The door shatters open and the man grabs my mother. He drags her back to my room. I follow trying to help her. The man grabs my fathers body and head and drags them both into my closet. The door slams shut and locks from the other side. All I hear is my mother screaming and her scream sounds from a distance as if he is dragging her further away. The screaming stops and blood seeps through the bottom of the door.
Today I can't even leave a closet door open at night. In fear that he might come back for me and finish the job.
