Chapter 1."YOU'RE GOING TO LONDON!"
The four simple words had changed my life.
*FLASHBACK*
"You're what?" Mom shouted at me for the first time since I was little when I told her that I'm planning on traveling to london when I finish high school, "Arianna Rose Harrison, what do you mean you are going to London?"
My heart shimmered a bit, it's never good when she calls me by my full name. The result was based on years of experience with this woman.
"I talked to you about this before, but you're never willing to listen to me! I'm taking a year off after high school to follow my dream." I said impatiently, trying to explain what I was saying and telling her I'm not planning on running away, " I've always wanted to go to London since I was little, so why not follow dream like you always told me too."
"You're going to save money on your own if you want to 'follow your dream', Arianna." her arms were crossed and thought I'd give up 'cause since I was little, I was never able to save my own money. Everytime I get my allowance, I will just go out and buy stupid little things that I ended up throwing away eventually.
"I'm going to save up some money by myself. Don't worry about me, I'm perfectly fine on my own." I ran my finger through my brown waves frustaly before dashing off into my room, I slammed the door behind me and jumped on my bed. I buried my face into the soft pillow and tried to block out my mom's high pitched voice from telling me not to slam my door.
How can I tell her that i'm not going to be her little girl forever, she has to let go of the girl I used to be 13 years ago that she read bedtime story to. That girl who would never let go of her hand even after we finished crossing the street, I've grown up. I'm going to london whether she likes it or not.
I heard the door slam from downstairs, I laughed. She always tells me not to slam my door and yet she does it even louder than myself. The noise level can be heard from Mars, and I'm completely serious. But on the bright side, its a clear sign that she had left for work, or at least out of the house at the moment. I stuck my head out of the frame of my door to double check if my forgetful mother is still in the house.
All clear.
I walked out of the house, locked the small glass door behind me. I stretched on the front porch and heard my back crack slightly from sitting in front of the laptop for a long period of time, typical teenage day. I reopened my eyes and noticed today is a beautiful, sunny day with barely any clouds in the blue sky, also a perfect day to find a job.
I pulled out my phone and dialed in a familiar trail of numbers with ease.
After three rings, the person I dialed to had finally picked up the phone.
"Hello?" My older brother Daniel picked up the phone and he sounded like he just woke up, "I just woke up." Daniel seemed to guess what I was thinking through the phone.
"Hey, can you come pick me up?"
"Sure. Why?" I heard him chuckled and I can picture him brushing his brown hair to the side and putting on his snapback while standing to get a steamy cup of coffee. We are extremely close, our relationship is so unbreakable that some people even thinks we are a couple. Gross.
Daniel lives with his girlfriend Natalie, so I barely get any chances to see him as much as I used to except for family occasions, lets just say my mom and him aren't really fond with each other.
"I'll tell you when you get here, It's a long story." I replied, short and simple. Not letting another word escape my mouth
"Be there in 5." And with that, he hung up.
*
"I can't believe it. He's actually letting you work there, and you're only 14 and have absolutely no experience what so ever!" Daniel said excitedly while walking out of the small coffee shop, into the Range Rover that was his car.
"I'm just that charming." I joke and cranked the volume as loud as I could to celebrate my first job as a waitress in Starbucks.
*End of Flashback*
"Aca-xcuse me?" I paused my all time favourite movie 'Pitch Perfect'. I tried to smooth my hair by using my fingers but that caused another mess in the already messy hair. Daniel was standing in the center of the living room, right in front of the TV. He shot me a bright smile and gave me a bone crushing hug, picking me up from the couch, squeezing the air out of my lungs.
"Can't..b-breathe." I choked, trying to wiggle out of Daniel's tight squeeze.
"My bad, A!" my older brother chuckled through his words, releasing me back to the ground immediately and rubbed his hand up and down on his forearm. I gasped for air and my breathing slowed to its normal pace. "A" was what my brother called me, since he's too lazy to even call me by my nickname 'Aria', but i didn't mind.
"So, you mind repeating what you said when you interrupted Pitch perfect?" I said with an enormous smile stretched across on my face with a hint of sass.
"I said-YOU'RE GOING TO LONDON!" He shouted right in my year.
"OH MY GOD- REALLY?!" I yelled just as loud as him with a little scream at the end."Yeah!" he said while pulling me into another hug, but this one was spacious and comfortable.
"But I don't have enough money for the plane to get there, I only have about thr-" I said after him releasing me again, my voice trailed off when Dan shushed me with his finger. My mouth opened in a shape of 'o', HOW DARE HE SHUSH ME.
"Don't worry about it. You don't need to pay for a plane ticket." he said, a smirk slowly appeared on his face, flashed me with his pearly white teeth.
"Daniel, are you stupid? I need a plane ticket to get to London from California" My smile turned into a "Are-you-stupid-i'm-not-super-man" face
"I mean, YOU don't have to pay for the ticket." The blue eyed boy said, while poking on the side of my arm playfully. Sometimes I can't help but to wonder if his age is actually 5 instead of 25.
I looked at him confused beyond belief. I have no idea what he was talking about, well I never understand what anyone is trying to tell me.
"Oh my gosh A, I'm paying for your plane ticket!!" he said, while trying to hide the giggles from his lips. I frowned at his words. I didn't want him to pay for me. I don't want anyone to help me. I'm old enough to take care of myself and save my OWN money. Why can't people just leave me alone?
"You can't. I won't let you!" I refused his idea, and pushing him aside for me to reach the fridge.
"I am, because I already payed for it." he paused for a second to see my reaction, my reaction was probably priceless after the next thing he said to me...
"and sorry to burst your bubble, but the ticket is not refundable anymore." he said with a cheeky smile. 'Tell you the truth, you did burst my bubble' I thought, but that didn't beat the feeling of joy that over took my body when I realized that I was going to London!
