I run through the woods, hoping they don't catch me. Branches block my view and scratch my skin. Twigs and leaves making noise underneath my feet. But all I do is focus on getting the hell out. I stop behind a giant tree hoping they don't spot me. I take a great breath of relief knowing they haven't. Yet. But that doesn't mean they won't find me. They can. I just need to be good at running, which so far has worked. I take another look back and start running again. As I run I see my breath in the cold air. I continue running a few more minutes before I trip and face plant into a pile of leaves, dirt, and twigs. I try to quickly get up before they catch me but my ankle started to swell up. The purple and blue around it doesn't help. I get up anyway and attempt to run with my ankle in the shape it's in. I stop to vaguely see a wooden house. I start walking towards it when I stepped into a net. It pulled me up so fast I couldn't recall what happened. Next thing I knew I was being pulled down and given a sedative.
I woke up in a white room. It smelled of rubbing alcohol and rubber gloves. To my right I see two doctors, one with a clipboard and one setting up a machine. To my left there was a table filled with different serums and needles. Before I ask, one of the doctors walks over and sticks a needle in me. At first I thought they were injecting the serum, instead they were collecting a blood sample. After he's done, he puts the sample on the counter by the door. Then comes back over, and sticks another needle in me. It's the serum this time. Everything goes black.
I wake up to the sound of sirens outside my home. There's flashing red and blue lights through my window, multiple times. It's now 10 am. I get out of my bed and head to my dresser. I quickly and quietly brush my long, black hair and put in a fishtail braid. Then I head to my closet and grab a pair of dark gray skinny jeans that are flexible enough for me to run and walk in, a navy blue v-neck, and my black jacket with a pair of combat boots. I step around the corner only to find my sister being pulled into a stretcher. All of a sudden I'm hit with a flash of the future- I saw the scene before. I remember it. I remember all of it. The smell of blood, the sound of very loud sirens calling out to someone's name. The sight of someone getting into an ambulance. But what the flash didn't say was the fact it was my sister. I didn't realize that I was fully around the corner, because everyone then knew. They knew my power, and I had to get the hell out, soon.
I ran back upstairs and started packing some things in my duffle bag. A brush, two shirts, a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, socks, underwear, a flashlight, two of my knives- a pocket knife and a regular knife, matches, a notepad, pen & pencil, a few snacks like cashews and peanuts and some fruit, water, the ring my mother gave me before she left along with my brothers necklace when he died. I had room for one last but small thing. I dug through my drawers quietly looking for it. Realizing the time, it'd be a short amount of time to get out of here and run. Then I found it. A small family photo. It consisted of my parents, my brother and sister, and me. It was the last photo taken of us before my brother died, before my parents spilt. I remember it clearly. We were happy. It was July 4th. We went out to the river for a picnic. Everyone in town did. The smell of the smoke from fireworks and grilling made everyone happy. It was something to remind us of what people did before the war. The taste of cotton candy and popcorn always made us happy. The fireworks were at nine, so we had some time to mess around. I remember around six we ate what was grilled, burgers. We all sat around on the big rainbow colored blanket and ate to the sound of bands playing and bugs flying around. After that we took the photo. Everyone really was happy.
Quickly I put the photo in the duffle bag and went to my window. I looked down below and saw them take my sister into the truck, her face covered with the black body bag you always see on shows. She's dead. When the ambulance was gone I realized I had tears running down my cheeks, then remembered I had to leave. I quickly wiped my face of tears and gave my bedroom a quick look goodbye. I'll remember the black and white bedspread. The white curtains. The wooden desk I once fell off of. My two dressers, one is white with chippings off it, the other is just wooden. I'll remember it all.
I looked back at the door. I had about 30 seconds to get out. I quickly threw my duffle out the window onto a roof, then climbed out myself. I stood on the roof as I quietly closed the window. I then grabbed the duffle and started running, making my way into the woods. Not looking back.

It's been two hours since I fled. I keep running as branches block my view and scratch my arms up. I hear the sound of horses come by so I run behind a tree. The fact that there's the sound of twigs and leaves beneath my feet doesn't help me any. I stay still and silent and wait for them to pass by. Breathe. Breathe. Breeze flys into my side bangs as they pass. I sigh with relief then start heading left. The sound of leaves and twigs crunch under my feet. I can smell pine trees as I run.
I run until I'm out of breath. I stop out of view from anyone, but I'm able to spot a few things. A pond. Some animals to shoot, cook and eat. And a wooden house. But vaguely. I decided that I'd go up and what's there instead of staying. I continue on, seeing more and more until I realize it's a farm. I walk through the wheat that's going up to my mid thigh and head towards the house. It's blending in with everything else so no one finds it. I go up to the white painted door and knock. Someone opens up the door and instantly recognizes me, but I have no clue what's happening until I'm suddenly blindfolded. Then everything went black.
