My First Day

A boy with yellow-blonde hair walks in and introduces himself as Will Solace.

"Hey, I'm just checking in on you. You took a pretty nasty fall up there on the hill earlier. Can I get your name?"

"(Y/f/n)"

"Ok, (y/n), I'm going to ask you to follow my finger with your eyes." he says, as he holds up his index finger and waves it back and forth in front of my face.

"Ok. You seem to be alright. Let me just check out that knot on your head."

He walks around my bed and checks the back of my head. He ends up brushing past a sensitive spot on my head and I wince. Guess that's where I hit my head when I fell.

"Sorry (y/n). Well, that's a pretty sizeable knot. You can leave the infirmary, but I reccomend you don't do any rough activities for about 2 days, or at least until the knot goes away. Oh, and here," he reaches into his pocket and fishes around for a bottle of medicine."This should help with the pain in your head"

"Thanks. So, I can leave today?" I ask, hoping I can go explore this place.

"Yup. Just gimme a minute and you can head out. Oh, and Leo, can you give her the tour of the camp?" Will asks.

"Huh? Oh, uh, sure. Nyssa doesn't need me to bring her those parts for another couple hours." Leo says.

"Great. (y/n) You're going to love it here," Will says.

A few minutes later, he comes back and gives me the all clear to leave. So, Leo and I head out.

LEO POV

Huh. (y/n) seems kinda cool. I wasn't listening to what Will was saying. I was just kinda examining (y/n). I couldn't help but stare. I did listen when Will said I'd be touring (y/n) around the camp.

"Huh? Oh, uh, sure. Nyssa doesn't need me to bring those parts for another couple hours." I say

"Great. (y/n) you're going to love it here." Will says.

A few minutes later, we leave and I show her the cabins, the mess hall, the showers, the arena, the beach and finally the archery range. She seems fascinated by it all. We stop at the archery range.

"Do you think I could try this out? Or would it be too rough?" she asks, anticipatingly.

"Sure, as long as you don't stand in front of the targets." I respond.

She laughs at my stupid joke. She's kinda cute when she laughs. No. Bad Leo, I think to myself. You can't already be crushing on a girl. Especially the new girl. Not after............ Her. Gods!!!!! I need to stop talki..... Thinking??? I don't know. Just shut up!!!

  "Uhhh, Leo? Are you okay?" (Y/n) asks me, waving her hands in my face.

  "Oh, uh. Yeah. I'm fine. Just..... Deep in thought. That's all. Let's head in." I say. Hopefully, I didnt totally embarrass myself already. I want to at least be close friends with this girl.

We walk in and there are a few Apollo kids here, obviously. (Y/n) asks the watcher to teach her how to shoot. He gladly accepts and I watch as she focuses and......... Woah!! She shot a bullseye on her first try!

She looks absolutely stunned. So does everyone else. She notches another arrow and....... Another bullseye! This girl can shoot! She tries a few more times and either hits a bullseye or somewhere very close to it.

Every kid in there is stunned. Including me and her. She mutters, "I've never even played sports before. How in the world...?" she trails off.

I speak up and say, "Hey, maybe you're a child of Apollo?"

"Maybe. But I can't sing to save my life," she says as she smiles.

I chuckle and we walk away as the Apollo kids resume their class.

"So, I see that there are cabins. Since we don't know who my parent is, where will I sleep?" she asks.

"Oh, you'll sleep in the Hermes cabin tonight until you're claimed," I respond.

(Y/n) opens her mouth to talk when we hear somebody yell something. And it was my name.

"LEEOOO"

Piper storms up to us with pink, green and orange hair.

"What the HADES is up with my hair?!!?!? I go to take a quick nap before lunch and I wake up and my hair is like THIS!!!!" she gestures around her.

"How do you know it was me?" I ask, trying to sound innocent, but not convincingly because:
1. I did do it and
2. She looks hilarious!

"You left a note on my bed that said 'You just got pranked by the Super-Sized McShizzle baby!'"

I lost it and doubled over laughing. Man, I'm good!

I realized (y/n) was trying hard to contain her laughter as she bit her bottom lip. She looked cute wh.... Gods this isn't going away, is it? Oh well.

Anyways, tuning back into reality, Piper noticed her and perked up.

"Oh, hey! I'm Piper. I don't always look like this. Leo's just an ass."

She outstretched her hand and (y/n) took it and was still trying not to laugh a bit.

"Hi. I'm (y/n). I just got here a few hours ago and Leo was showing me around."

"Careful around him. Close your eyes for a second and you look like me," she added while starting to chuckle.

They seemed to be becoming fast friends. Maybe she could join our little friend group here at camp.

Piper walks away a couple of minutes later and I take (y/n) to the Hermes cabin so she can get to know some more people before lunch.

"So, this is the Hermes cabin. Hopefully, you'll be claimed tonight so you don't have to spend a night in here," I said, jabbing my thumb towards the cabin.

"Yeah, why are there so many kids in there?" she asks, perplexed.

"Well, Hermes is the god of travelers, so he kinda........ Gets around,"

She puts her hand up to stop me. "Gotcha. So, you just stick every new kid in here cuz theres a 50/50 chance they're a child of Hermes, am I right?" she asks, with an arched eyebrow.

"Yup, pretty much."

"Well, see ya later." she says as she waves bye and opens the door to the cabin.

I give a small wave back and say,
"Bye" as I turn to walk away.

  Well, that didn't go great. But it could've been worse. Who knows? Maybe I'll make a friend..... Or something more. And maybe, just maybe, finally get over Calypso.

  On that note, I see Festus at the edge of the woods waiting for me (or the Tabasco sauce and oil I promised him) so I break into a run to meet the only friend who truly gets me.
