The difference between the living and the dead is simple really. Ones dead, the other is living. However, what happens when you're stuck between the two? Are you classified as living or dead? If you're able to walk like a human and act like one then you're living, right?
Wrong.
If you don't possess the same emotions as your earlier life had, you're no long living.
Why? To live is to learn. You learn by doing almost everything in life, therefore you need emotions too. Falling of a bicycle means you would be sad, making you try again until you reached satisfaction.
Thats the difference.
Well, in Valentino's mind.
Valentino wasn't sure what to classify himself. Was he really dead? He didn't feel dead, he didn't look like how a ghost was meant to look either. With the stereotypical faint body and the ghostly 'Ooo's and 'Aaa's.
Should he really be dead?
Was this like a second chance? She could see him now so there must be a reason behind such.
Either way, he needed answers. Not a girl crying.Valentino just slowly placed his hand on her shoulder making Rosetta flinch, moving back once more. "Look. I don't know if i'm dead or alive. I don't know whats happening. I don't know why you're the only one that can see and hear me, but what i do know is you killed me. You shot me. So, you're going to tell me why. I don't care if i have to make you experience insanity to get what i want." Valentino explained, his voice was like honey tinted with blood. It wasn't soft, but it wasn't harsh either.
Rosetta listened closely to the statement, a cold shiver ran down her spine and she took a deep breath. Her brain got used to the idea that she could see him by now, his voice was just ringing in her head and she soon nodded slowly.
It was weird. Secretly, Rosetta pinched herself in hope that she was dreaming. Doing it two more times just in case her subconscious self didn't feel the first one. It didn't work. She wasn't dreaming. There is a ghost standing right in front of her.
It's probably just a normal day.
Valentino moved away from the bathroom door, he crossed his arms and slowly began to walk inside the living room. He was almost disappointed. Angered even. She was about the throw her life away as if it was a parking ticket. If he wasn't there to stop her, it would've been all over.
Rosetta followed slowly beside the ghost, she reached forward, her fingertips almost resting onto his stained fabric. She moved closer, her whole palm was now rested onto Valentino's back which clearly made him stop. "S-sorry..i-i just thought you were y-you know.." She whispered, removing her hand from his back and she wiped her eyes again. You could tell she hasn't been sleeping, the bags under her eyes were visible under the light.
"You thought i was see through? Charming." He muttered in a reply. He had to almost joke around, reminding himself he was still a human, recalling the memories of the past. Acting as if he forgets all of his past memories then it's all over.
"N-no i-i di-didn't mean it like that.." She quickly replied, trying to smooth out the edges of her shirt. "What? So you just touch everyones back or is it just the people you shot?" He asked, frowning. "I-i didn't mean it! You think i wanted to shoot you? Or that kid? Huh? You really think I'm that merciless" Rosetta raised her voice, it was a natural instinct she had. "Oh i don't know, when you get shot for holding keys it seems your trust just goes out the window, bizarre i know." Valenino snapped back, his eyes narrowed and he soon made a 'Tsk'. There was a long pause after.
The way Valentino was acting wasn't normal, but he needed to act this way. He had to otherwise he was afraid he would go insane. He couldn't rewrite the past, he died. Thats it. However, he could try and build up his life again. He could remember the memories he had and carry on joking around. Just until he was able to find peace.
"I-i'll tell you all that i remember but please..y-you need to trust me.." She whispered, finally speaking. Rosetta was now sitting down and clasping her hands together, she took soft breaths but they were quick. Almost in a pattern.
Valentino sat down on the sofa across from her. He didn't make a dent in it despite not going through it. He realised then that his mass accounted to nothing whilst he was dead.
"We have all the time you need since well..i'm not going anywhere." He muttered, sighing.
*A/N*
Am i the only one who is like, not sure whether to make Rosetta and Valentino a couple? I just don't see it tbh. Maybe..eeh, thats a problem for another time tbh.
