I wake to the sounds of a constant beeping, but don't open my eyes. I'm not ready to face whatever is waiting for me. Where am I? This is not what I thought death would be like, why so much pain? I feel as if my insides have been twisted into impossible knots. Okay, it's time to stop being the coward and open my eyes. On the count of three; 1... 2...3! I open my eyes only to quickly shut them again because of the blinding white light that has assaulted my eyes.
"Alisollani! Has sleeping beauty finally awoken?" A pretty young girl coos to me. I only blink and stare back into her big brown eyes framed by thick eye lashes , that look down at me. Her eyes tighten and crinkle up and I can tell shes smiling. "I thought you would never wake up. I am your nurse, Katherine." My eyes move away from her eyes to see that her skin is perfect, not a blemish on her creamy skin, and her golden brown hair is in a perfect french braid that goes half way down her back. She smiles bigger and I see her perfect white teeth. Ugh! She even has dimples! I hate people like her, they know they are pretty and flaunt it. They pity girls like me, who are awkward and ugly looking.
"Just call me Sola and are you not way too young to be my nurse?" I try to sneer, my frown deepens. Her smile doesn't even waver, "Okay, Sola. Well if we are not going to be so formal, then call me Katie. I am actually 18, I'm not exactly a full nurse, but I'll be your main." Did Katie actually giggle? She is just too nice! I guess I should ask my questions, maybe I'll at least get some answers from her. "Where am I? Why am I here and when can I leave?" I really don't care about being polite. "Oh silly! You're at the hospital! You.. um... you sorta overdosed on some medicine and um .. you.. um well have some deep cuts on your wrists that have some people concerned about." I actually enjoyed hearing Katie stumble over her words, but I frown because she didn't say how long I would be here. I ask again because I know she is keeping some thing from me. "Oh, Sola, that's not really important right now. You actually have a meeting to talk to some one about your questions right now."
Katie goes over to the far corner of my small sterile room and pulls a wheelchair over to me. She helps me climb into it, I am secretly glad she does because I feel so empty and weak. "Okay, all ready to go? On our way I'll give you a quick tour of the place." Katie practically sings out, but I say nothing in return. Our tour consists of more sterile rooms wiped completely
free of personality, all I see is white with glints of metallic sliver. Katie chatters on, but I only ignore her. Finally who pull up to a room with a name plate that reads : Dr. H. Quillian.
