Chapter three

Jamie and I looked at each other for a few seconds, until I broke the eerie silence.

“Well that was rather odd.”

“Yeah odd,” he murmured.

Jamie stepped forward and opened the door, well actually tried to open the door. I watched in confusion as Jamie pulled the door and wondered why it wasn't opening.

“For god's sake! It's not opening.”

“Well maybe there's something wrong with the door.” Thinking that it was the only logical reason.

“Yeah that's probably why. But just to be sure, let's check the back door.”

“Err... OK then.”

This time I led the way into the kitchen, I tried but the door wouldn't open. Abruptly, Jamie appeared behind me, causing me to jump, and pulled on the door himself. A dark thought flashed through my mind. Jamie couldn't have set this up, could he? The thought left as soon as it appeared. Of course not, that'd just be plain stupid, he would've been the last one to see me so he would be a prime suspect. And besides he was expecting my mother as well as me. I was letting my paranoia get the better of me again, I had a tendency to jump to the unlikeliest conclusions.

The sound of a woman screaming echoed throughout the house, breaking me from my thoughts and coming back to reality. I stared at Jamie, my nervousness plain on my face.

He put his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eye , “Ryssa I'm going to see what's going on you stay here OK?”

I quickly shook my head and said, “No. I think it would be best if I come with you.”

He seemed unsure about the idea but nodded anyway, he put his hand on my back and we slowly walked out of the kitchen. The only other rooms downstairs were the toilet and the living room. We went to the living room first.

We were on the threshold to the living room when all of a sudden we were on the floor, pushed by some unknown force, and yet again the door slammed shut. Jamie helped me up and held me in a protective way.

“Ryssa are you OK?”

“Yeah I'm fine. What about you?”

“I'm OK.”

As soon as he finished his sentence an unseen voice whispered, “Watch me die...”
