Chapter 3: Lying
Story 1: The thirsty men
One day, two men were in the desert. One was called Steve and the other was called James. They had no water and were very thirsty but suddenly, they noticed a mosque nearby. They decided to go in. James told Steve," I am going to pretend my name is Abdullah, otherwise they wont give us anything to eat or drink cos' we are not muslims. You change your name too."
But Steve refused." I am not changing my name for anyone! My name is Steve and thats it."
They went in and met the Imam.
"Hi, my name is Abdullah and this is Steve" Said James.
The Imam replied " Hello Steve and Assalamu 'alaykum Abdullah." He turned to Steve and said," Come and have some foos and water." He then turned to Abdullah and said "Ramadan Mubarak"
Story 2: Prophet Isa(A.S) and the Jew
Nabii Isa(A.S) was going around the country preaching when he met a jew. The jew asked to accompany Nabii Isa(A.S) who accepted on a condition that they would share their food. He asked the jew to bring out the two loaves of bread. The jew said that there was only one bread so they ate the bread. Later on, Nabii Isa(A.S) came across a blind man, he prayed for the blind man and he was able to see again. The Jew was surprised.
Nabii Isa(A.S) asked the jew by the power of the one who made this miracle to happen," Where is the second bread?" The jew replied,"There was only one bread"
Next they came to a wide river. Nabii Isa (A.S) held the hand of the jew and they crossed the river by walking on water. This was another miracle by Nabii Isa(A.S), However, The jew did not see this as something strange and so he kept on saying 'there was only one bread'. Thenthey came across 3 bars of gold. Nabii Isa said,"One bar of gold for me, One for you and One for the person who ate the second bread"
"I ate the bread" said the Jew. Nabii Isa told him to take all the 3 bars of gold. Nabii Isa left the jew with all the 3 bars of gold. After a while, two great robbers passed and they forced the jew to share the 3 bars of gold or he would be killed. The jew accepted and therefore each one of them had one bar of gold. One of the robbers went to the city to buy food and put poison in the food in order to kill the other two. Meanwhile the other two planned to kill him too. On arrival the two killed him. They then ate the food which had poison and they also died.
Nabii Isa(A.S) passed by and said,"This is what liars get in the end. This is how the world misleads people."
The Prophet (S.A.W) has taught us: "Speak the truth even though it is bitter."
