What is a promise? A promise is telling someone that you will definitely do or give them something or make sure that something will happen. Some people aren't really good with making promises. I used to make a lot of them when I was younger. The one person that I would always make promises with was my friend, Dante. He would always get in trouble with the teachers and parents. Whenever I was about to get in trouble, he took the blame and got the beatings. After I saw him get hit by his dad, I always made him promise that he wouldn't get in trouble anymore and he did. We sometimes hated each other, but we learned to love one another in the very end. One day Dante was about to go to summer camp and he wanted me to make/keep a promise. "Hey Tracy, promise me that you'll write me letters and stuff while I'm at camp." I couldn't do anything but laugh and smile. He held up his hand and stuck out his pinky. "Promise?" I wrapped my pinky around his and said, "Promise." He gave me a hug and left for his camp. After that day, I wrote him letters and made promises that I will always be there for him, no matter how far away...he may be. I promise.
