"Dean come on! We're seriously not gonna do this are we?!" Sam exclaimed.
I'd dragged him into the next room, beginning a long argument about whether we should trust this 'visions girl' or not.
He thought we should. I thought different.
"Yes Sam! We're hunters... You think we're just gonna let a potential Demon into our home?!" I argue.
We both look past the door to see the girl standing nervously in the hall way, massaging her back.
She did look completely innocent. But don't all villains have a mask of disguise in the beginning.
Ours eyes meet again, a single brow was raised at me.
"You grab the bible, I grab the rope. We're doing this Sam" I tell him stubbornly, grabbing rough old rope from the cupboard.
He just sighs at me, shaking his head. I hated to disagree with him. But my trust wasn't gained easily. I had to put this girl through her paces before she got anywhere near Sam.
As I make my way to her, she turns one side of her mouth up into a small smile. But that all disappears when I grab her wrists, tying them up in tight knots.
"Hey W- What are you doing?!" She struggles, trying to get out of the twisted ropes.
"Just making sure" I reply blankly, walking her forwards to the room where we perform our exorcisms.
"No, no, no you don't understand I'm not a demon Dean I told you that!" she pleads as I tie her down to the chair. I ignore her, moving to her ankles, fastening them to the chair leg. I pull on the rope tightly and she yelps in pain, then serves me a look that could kill.
Sam walks in, and kneels down with me, helping me with the other leg. Now I just need more holy water and salt and we're set to go.
"I'm really sorry about this" he whispers to her, and I scoff from the other side of the room. This was Sam's problem, he trusts to easily.
"Alright Sam, enough baby talk, " I tease from the other side of the room"Lets get this son of a bitch".
"Dean!" he scowls, widening his eyes at me.
"Oh come on, I was talking about the demon" I roll my eyes. People are so sensitive these days.
He just shakes his head, taking a deep breath.
"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica... ".
Nothing.
Sam raises his brows at me yet again, making me look like a complete fool.
"Keep going!" I bark, splashing water all over her. She coughs, shaking her head in an attempt to get rid of the water.
"Ergo, draco maledicte et omnis legio diabolica, adjuramus te ... cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque æternæ perditionìs venenum propinare..."
And still nothing.
She struggles in the ropes, wincing in pain as it burns her wrists.
"Just let me out" she breathes. Sam moves forward. I grab his arm, furrowing my brows at him in confusion.
"Um, what are you doing?!"
"Letting her out..."
"No... We finish this. I just have a bad feeling about her". I eye her up and down.
"Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciæ, hostis humanæ salutis... Humiliare sub potenti manu Dei; contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine... quem inferi tremunt... Dammit Dean she's not a demon can't you see!" Sam yells and I storm over to her, shaking the chair.
"Get out of her! You're in there and I know it! You bastard!" I yell and her eyes tear up, lips quivering in fear. Good. I hope I've scared it.
"Please just let me go I'm not a demon!" she fights back, shuffling her chair forwards frantically.
"SAM!" I demand him to keep reading.
"I promise you I'm not a demon, please just let me out, I'll leave!"
As Sam reads out the rest of the bible verse, I grip her arms tight.
"I don't care how many times I have to do this-" I growl.
While I'm yelling, over and over she whimpers "I'm not a demon".
".....Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine...." Sam's voice is getting louder over my yells.
"I will not let you come into this house and rip apart my family again!" My voice is booming around the room.
Sam and I are both now yelling over one another.
But without warning, her voice projects.
"I'M NOT A DEMON!" she screams, the anger in her eyes burning like a wildfire.
Silence.
She's breathing heavily, and Sam and I both stare, startled.
Sam rushes over to the chair beside me, untying her wrists and ankles.
As soon as her wrists are untied, a shaky hand moves to her cheek, wiping away one glistening tear.
"You asshole" she insults in a brittle voice, getting up and pushing past me.
"The bathrooms just down the hall" Sam tells her from behind me.
Sam and I's eyes meet and he looks ashamed of me.
I was wrong about the girl. Oh boy was I wrong.
My eyes averted to the floor, embarrassed about my behaviour.
I suppose sometimes when you think you're doing the right thing, you end up doing the complete opposite.
"I should go, see if she's okay..." Sam mutters, leaving me alone. I just nod sullenly.
God why do I do these things?! I clench my jaw, restraining myself from punching the wall in frustration.
