Dean's P.O.V
I hear the door open and look up immediately, to see Scarlett and Sam walk into the room. I'm frozen. I'd rehearsed what I would say to her for the past half hour. Now, my words have failed me. I'm speechless.
But this is the first time I've actually gotten to look at her. She's tiny. At least 5.3. I gulp, thinking about how I slammed her now evident tiny body against the wall. She clutches tenderly at her lower back as Sam leads her over to the dining table where I'm sitting. I must have hurt her bad. Guilt floods over me like an unforgiving thunderstorm.
"Here you go" he pulls out a chair for her, and she eases onto it. She crosses her legs stiffly, and sits still in the chair.
She's scared of me.
I try to make eye contact with her, wanting to make her feel comfortable. Her eyes are stunning. A spring green, brought to life by her cascading dark untamed hair. She keeps them of me for a moment. Hesitating. She looks to Sam for comfort as he to sits at the table. He nods at her encouragingly, just the way Sam knows how. Sometimes I wish I was more like him, god dammit.
She looks up at me through her long lashes, our eyes meeting. She takes a deep breath. I suppose the last time she looked into my eyes, I was screaming at her. I look to the floor, my whole body wanting to flee the room. Disgusted in myself in an understatement.
"You know," she begins, letting out a breathy laugh "I won't be coming back here if I ever get possessed by a demon". My head snaps up at her. The corner of her lips tug into a small smile. "You're damn good at your job".
I let out a shocked, relieved laugh. I hear Sam exhale in relief as well.
"I-" I rub the back of my neck. It's been a long time since I apologised "I'm really sorry..."
"It's okay Dean, I just-" She pauses, thinking "I need to help you" she widens her eyes, and I can feel the urgency.
"I'm listening this time" I nod moving forward on my chair "I promise"
"We both are" Sam adds.
