"Oh, Alex! You look gorgeous!" Sydney dramatically (of course) swoons over me. I can hardly blink, there's so much makeup caked on my face. I'm guessing that Syd is probably overreacting (see the pattern?) and I look like a clown. I mean, that's not a far cry from what I look like normally, but at least this makeup probably makes me look less like a psychopath and more like a Ronald McDonald. I pry myself and lumber over to my full mirror and slowly look up at myself.
I finally see why Sydney picked this color. The violet frock matches my pale skin perfectly and the shape fits my body perfectly. My face, though. My face still looks like, well, my face, but the makeup covers up all the blemishes and zits on my face. My hair's piled up on my head and my long bangs are swept across my forehead. As I'm gawking at myself from the mirror, I decide that Sydney definitely just worked magic. I glance up at my teal clock and gasp.
"Oh, Sydney! You need to get ready! When are Jaz and Ari gonna do you up?" Jaz and Ari are Syd's bridesmaids.
"They're on their way. Since when were you more worried about my wedding than me?" she smiles and rolls her eyes.
"I apologize? I guess?"
"Apology accepted."
"I'm telling Andy that you picked your nose until you were twelve!" I threaten.
"Well, I'm gonna tell Mark that you had anger issues until you were eleven!" Sydney's laughing, but I feel my face turn hot. Mark's been my crush ever since I started boarding school in Amsterdam last fall.
