I pace around my dorm room- waiting, waiting, waiting. Sydney usually picks up her phone immediately, but I guess the whole marriage thing has had a weird effect on her. The long distance call is about to go to voicemail when Sydney's silvery voice comes through.
"You're welcome for giving you your boyfriend's number."
I try to scoff, "Haha. H-h-he's not my boyfriend." If you couldn't tell, I'm not winning an Oscar anytime soon.
"Right. I'm sure. I guess the attraction to the Curtis boys runs in the family."
"Yeah, whatever. Just calling to see how your honeymoon was," I roll my eyes, wondering how every conversation with Sydney Venizea ends up being about relationships-no joke.
"It was so romantic! He is so sweet, and kind- oh my gosh, this one time, we were..." I tune out as Sydney starts gushing about every little detail of her honeymoon.
As she does, I can't help pondering my own messed up "love life" (like I actually have one). I've found myself thinking about Jared more and more often... his gorgeous smile, that messed up hair, the piercing blue of his eyes... Snap out of it!
I shake myself out of my daydreams in time to hear Sydney finish up with, "...talk to you later. Going out to din-" I hang up, successfully saving myself from the monologue I know is coming.
