Chresanto

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop looking at her. She was doing this on purpose. Inviting me over just so she could rub her relationship with Jacob in my face. I couldn't stand it.

"I'm bored," I announced, hoping Eve would catch on.

She yawned, eyeing me sleepily. "Well, what do you want to do?"

I stood up fully aware that Jamie was watching me. "I'm leaving," I told her, and out of the corner of my eye I could see a smirk of satisfaction creep up on Jamie's face. I couldn't let her win.

I pulled Eve up, draping my arm around her shoulder. "So I would love to stick around," I said, smiling down at Jamie. "But me and my girl are leaving."

Jamie was speechless. She frowned and a rush of excitement surged through me as we left the apartment. I felt like I was on top of the world. At least that is until we actually got outside.

"Alright hot shot," Eve laughed, tucking her arm around my waist. "Where to?"

"It's a surprise," I lied, but in all honesty, I didn't think that far ahead. Just seeing the look on Jamie's face though was worth it. I led Eve down the block, struggling to gather my thoughts together. I got us out the apartment, but now what?

On my left, I could make out the shape of what looked like an old park. Eve slid her hand in mine, pulling me in towards the park. I reluctantly followed her to the swings.

_______

"KFC or Popeyes?" Eve asked, smiling at me. We had been in this park for hours, yet something about this felt different. Every time she would smile...I just got this feeling...

"KFC," I announced,  proudly. I moved so that I was sitting on the swing beside hers. "Everyone knows KFC is the shit."

She snorted. Even in the dark, I could tell that she was giving me a skeptical look. "You must be fucked up in the head," she stated bluntly.

Shocked at her comment, I couldn't help but smile in disbelief. "What makes you say that?"

"Popeyes is way better than that raggedy ass excuse for a restaurant," she retorted.

I shook my head, and Eve stood up, her weight resting on her right foot. As she folded her arms across her chest, I pushed off the swing, stumbling into her. For a second we started to fall, but I turned so that I landed on the ground and she landed on top of me.

"All that Popeyes is making you ungraceful," I teased. My voice came out softly, and I couldn't help but notice how sexy Eve looked. Normally, I saw her when she was trying to act like Jamie. She looked soo different and so much more appealing when she was by herself.

Laughing, she moved so she was straddling my waist. "Boy, you know you knocked into me," she warned.
