The village, being on the outer most northern part of the empire, is neglected by the empire to such an extent that they haven't been to the village to even collect taxes for over ten years. If the emperor gets to know this, I'm pretty sure he would have the head of the region executed. But then again, the village is quite hard to find even if they tried to send people, with no proper roads connecting it to any nearby cities or towns. The village is circular in shape with the Chief's house being in the center and the rest of the houses and shops surrounding it in a concentric manner. The village is surrounded by a tall wooden fence. It has two entrances opposite to each other at the northern and southern ends. The fields, which mark the circumference of the village, provide most of the food for the village.
Beyond the village, many ruins can be seen. Chief tells me that the ruins are where the village used to be originally. Apparently, Scach was a city, a long time back, until a war destroyed almost everything. I've never been north of the village into the endless desert, but chief told me that the endless desert was where the war took place which also destroyed all the magic in the nearby places. So nothing exists in the endless desert. After the war, magic dried up from the northern part of the empire. Which resulted in the empire caring less about the north. Slowly, people realised that they couldn't use magic that effectively in the north anymore and gradually mages died out in the north. The magic left the people and Scach didn't have any magic anymore.
