A.N: Been a while huh guys? I'm so sorry!! I've had exams and all this, and I know they are petty reasons. You all aren't here to learn about my life, so let's get on with the story!
Chapter 16
This was it.My heart was pounding, my head was spinning from all the knowledge crammed into it, my knees shaking from the weight I felt was pushing on my shoulders.
Alpha Steven stood in front of me. A mop of silver grey hair lay atop his head, his muscles bulging as he pushed stray pieces of hair to the side. A tentative smile was placed upon his lips; his feet were quickly hitting the ground in rhythmic motions. A strange achy feeling settled in my heart as I glanced at the woman who stood a few feet behind him. The quick, concerning glances that kept flickering towards him from her gave me insight into how they were mated. The feeling of longing rose up in me swiftly as though this one scene had caused a dam to burst; mentally I pushed my walls back into place and plastered a confident smile onto my face.
"Hello Alpha Steven! I'm so glad we had the chance to meet today." I strode forward and grasped the arm that shot out to greet me. My actions had caused a true show of emotion to grave his face as he pulled me into a hug and led me inside.
"I'm glad to meet you too. I'm sorry my request must have felt intimidating especially as you are new to all of this, but I assure you that I am not a threat due to our strong standing treaty. Actually, the treaty is why I have called you hear to talk today..."
***
The rest of the day was spent sorting through the treaty, tweaking it where needed and updating both of us on new pack members as part of our agreement.
As the day drew to a close, I felt reassured that I had made a friend. Warmly, I kissed him on both cheeks and wished him a happy life until we met again. A few minutes later the rest of the pack were in their vehicles and headed back to their territory.
THIRD PERSON POV
"Alpha? We have the pictures that you asked us for."
"Thank you." Steven replied. He gazed at the evidence in front of him. There were three photos: one of Alpha Ryder a few weeks ago, a picture of what appeared to be a needle protruding from his body, and a picture of him a week ago. Nothing seemed to have changed between the first and last photo, however the second piece of evidence was what was worrying him.
"Should we have showed the soon to be Luna to gauge her reaction?"
"No, not yet. I will have someone monitor the pack and this whole situation closer and then we shall decide what to do. For now, we wait."
ISABEL POV
I woke up the next day, feeling infinitely more confident in my abilities to lead the pack (if I ever mated with Ryder, I still wasn't sure about the entire situation) after my meeting with Alpha Steven. It was 10 0 clock when I finally left my room fresh faced, ready for the day's activities. It was a busy day ahead, with pack training and yet more lessons about the pack with Seth however today I felt different. My wolf was raring to go and I let her push me to the side as my body shifted into the fur I was so accustomed too. I ran for only a few moments to work off excess energy.
Grabbing the spare clothes that I had hid under a bush for afterwards, I swirly changed back and clothed myself.
"Is this the walk of shame I see here?" Emily's product paste face filled my vision as I clambered up the stone steps.
"Can't you ever go away?" I groaned, "You should learn when you aren't wanted Emily. I'm sure men have been giving you these signals for a while now, and it would do us all a favour if you learnt how to read them. Or better yet, how to read."
"Oh yes, of course, Ryder must have been giving me those signs when he was shoving his tongue down my throat. Next time dear sister, I'll see if I can get his pants off before I find your 'so called signals'. Adios!"
My roar echoed from across the courtyard as I gripped the metal bars tightly. My wolf was begging to let her have control so I could scratch her eyes out with only my nails.
"Oh, and Isabel? Figured out about those birthmarks yet?"
Her taunting face filled my vision as I bellowed deeply "OUT. NOW."
She did not move, instead choosing to mock the little power that my words held due to me not fulfilling the mating ritual with Ryder. This time, I did not let my wolf be pushed to the side as she roared loudly. My claws began to change, and as I leaned down to the ground ready to strike my prey, fear rose up in her as though I had striked her; pounding footsteps echoed through my brain as though her imprint would never go. Would she ever leave me alone?
The pounding in my head would not subside, and the fresh feeling I had felt this morning was gone. Instead of beginning my tasks for the day, I grabbed my keys from my bag and unlocked my car. I was going to go into the library and research about birthmarks: I would not have Emily holding information above me.
The car continued forward at an agonisingly slow pace as the cue in front of me began to clear. Ten minutes later, the stack of cars had completely disappeared and the once bustling road had become eerily empty. I drove forward, hoping to arrive at the library soon. Turning on the radio, I was determined that music would chase away the feeling that had become the passenger in the car.
BANG!!!
