Forever Silenced: Side Story 01

A/N: I’m sorry for not uploading more chapters. I’m currently trying to juggle my last three weeks of this semester with my updates. Anyway, to compensate, I offer you a side story to read. I know it’s not much but I hope you’d like it. Also, I’d like to make it clear that this side story does not and will not affect the main story line of Forever Silenced but it will provide basis for it. Thank you!

Soft cottony dress danced with the wind as she glided across the grassy field with a grace that only few blessed creations were allowed to possess. Sunlight shone perfectly on her, enlightening the rosy glow on her cheeks and the healthy fairness of her skin.

“Lord Tristain,” her voice was fire on ice---full of life and firmness. She was a mirage on an illusion. She was a fierce commander hidden beneath the guise of a harmless flower. She gave off a very regal air that it was almost impossible not to bend one’s knee when she approaches. Her tiny frame was an illusion that she was weak for she is also well versed with the arts of self-protection---her charming smile alone was the only weapon no sword nor guns nor spell would ever dare war with. Her judgment was uncontestable; her mind and heart was ruled by a pure soul that only desired peace and order, love and equality. She was the pinnacle.

She, in spite of all her glory, was just another woman who only desired not empires nor fleets nor wealth and treasures but a man to stand strong beside her no matter what.

Her smile turned to a shy and tiny laughter as she faced away and tucked a strand of her chestnut hair behind her ear. I was finally able to go back to my old self. “Is there something wrong, milady?” I asked as I quickened my steps to where she stood now. A seemingly raised area held her like a stage as a prairie extended itself below, the winds rocking the tall grass in a rhythmic dance of nature’s orchestration.

“I was supposed to ask you a question of the same nature but you got ahead.” She smiled and stood close as I stopped beside her. “I seek for your pity, milady. I wasn’t---“

“Hush, Lord Tristain. You worry yourself too much. Forget my titles today and put to mind and heart that I am simply a girl who enjoys walking on the grasslands on windy days.” She said. “As you wish,” I replied and bowed my head slightly. She chuckled and her hand crawled up to my arm and clutched it softly but firmly. I responded by raising my arm and cupping her clutched hand with my other hand.

“Shall we walk some more?” I offered. She laughed like a little girl and nodded. “Yes, please, milord.” She whispered and even if I was the one walking a little bit ahead, she was the one commandeering the way.

“In a few more moons, we shall be as one.” She commented as we reached a river’s bend. I took off my coat to use as a blanket for her to sit on but she seemed much more comfortable sitting on the grass itself. “Yes, and I believe it will be of great festivity to both nations.” I answered.

“Milord,” her voice wavered slightly and I couldn’t help but snap my head at her in pristine worry. She was looking up the sky, her eyes wandering farther than the clouds and the dome itself. She looked like she was thinking of something so somber.

“Is it quivering I catch in your voice? By now, you cannot deny the truth that you are feeling discomfort and I implore you to aid my growing worry by sharing a piece of your own worries to me. I am at your bidding, Amanda.” I told her my desire. She smiled and cupped my hands. “I thank all the gods and forces that had crossed our paths together. Your voice alone wipes away all the tempest in my soul and an overwhelming sense of comfort and security washes me inside and out. Milord, I was just pondering on whether I could be a fitting companion for you and your nation. As we are to be joined as one, I, too, shall be bearing responsibility in your issues regarding your beloved land. But,” she stopped to look straight to my eyes: her blue ones glittering like star dusts.

“I know that I must fear nothing for you will be there. And please take my word that I will be the same to you.” She said and her most beautiful smile graced a lowly creature like me. I took her in my arms and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. “Of course, Amanda. You and I, forever shall we stand with each other. I take this oath from now on, until the sun decides to stop rising.” I said.

If there is one thing I could do for a woman with all the glories in the world, it would be to fulfill without fail the only wish she ever desires: to be the man that will stand by her no matter what.
