We both took a short break near a river, sipping the cool water. Eden wrapped my wound with a leaf he washed in the river. The river was fresh water. I could the sun slowly rise over the horizon, lighting up everything around us.
"So, you guys can, transform?" I asked, eating a small apple I found on a tree. "Ah, y-yes" responded Eden, in his rabbit form, nibbling on another apple. "How?" I asked, how could it be possible for a human to be able to transform into an animal.
"Long story short, we,uh. The man that broke into our house. He injected us with some type of virus. He didn't complete the transformation so now we're half-human, half-animal, that's why he came, to finish his completion, to make us permanently, an animal. I think."
"Why did he want to do that anyway?" I asked, I didn't want to be annoying though.
Eden sighed deeply, I knew from his expression he did not want to say this.
"He...he...he was our father... He was a scientist and we were like his lab rats. But this one, it worked, and our father wants to finish it on us, because the scientist say that he needs to complete his experiment before confirming it works."
"Oh, I see"
A moment of silence.
"A-anyways, w-what should we do?" asked Eden, finishing the apple. "I don't know, go...back?" I responded, with a question. Eden lowered his ears, not wanting to see the damage done to his...sort of... older brother. But on the other hand, he was curious on what happened.
"We need t-to get out o-of this f-forest!" he shouted randomly, hopping away, I fallowed him. "Wait! What do you mean?" I tried to yell at him, but he couldn't hear me.
Eden ran and ran and I followed after him, or, at least, tried to. It was now about 5:00 AM and I didn't know how much longer we had to run to get out of this forest.
Then a fox and a collie ran up to Eden. The fox growled, licking his lips for his next meal. Eden. I luckily caught up to him and picked him up. I tried to shoo the fox and dog away. But they wouldn't. The fox and dog ran after me and I ran around them, I couldn't find an exit to this forest.
I managed to get them out of sight. "We h-have to g-go b-back." said Eden, jumping out of my arms. "Why? the fox AND dog could eat you!" I said, trying to stop him. "They're my friends!" Was the last thing Eden said before running off back to the fox and collie.
"A-Alexia, Tobaso, i-it's me, Eden!" Eden, transforming into his human form. They both transformed into humans. I stood there shocked, I thought Eden and Koroshi were the only two that could do that. "Eden! We thought we'd never see you again!" said Alexia, running to hug him, Tobaso stood in the background, smiling happily. "Sorry Izanami, but these are my friends, Alexia and Tobaso" said Eden. They both waved at me. "Hello" I said.
They all transformed back into their animal forms. Alexia was the fox and Tobaso was the collie. "What are you guys doing in a forest like this?" asked Alexia. "We're trying to find the Mountain of Revival" responded Eden. According to what I knew, the Mountain of Revival could heal any illnesses or curses set upon someone, though it couldn't revive the dead. "You're planning to make the violent walk up the mountain? Only two people ever made it there and came back alive" said Alexia, tilting her head towards the situation. Mountain of Revival. We'd make it there, right? We could, right? We had to find a way out first. "But what about Koroshi? Wheres he?" asked Alexia, we were still walking throughout the forest. "Thats the thing. W-we don't know. he might be d-dead" said Eden, ears pointing downwards. "If we all want to get rid of that curse, shouldn't Koroshi be here?" asked Alexia.
Tobaso stopped suddenly and started wagging his tail, we saw a light! We were almost out of the forest! "Dude, good job!" said Alexia. We walked out and saw...the city? Was this forest the entrance to another dimension? What? This was too confusing, I was just happy we were out.
They all transformed back to humans, exempt Tobaso, we thought his sharp nose could help us find something, food maybe?
"We're not gonna find the Mountain of Revival in the city" I said, maybe we could somehow get out and run to the country side where we could clearly see the mountains. Eden nodded at me, I was right, we couldn't see it from here. "We'll sleep here at a hotel and we'll venture out tomorrow, that okay dudes?" asked Alexia, we agreed, Tobaso went to a secluded place to transform back into a human and came back to us.
We managed to get to a pretty nice hotel, luckily Eden had a decent amount of money in his wallet.
