Chapter 7: Memories

Mars Pov 

"You shut up."I reply to Venus 

You know I clearly remember that day. It was 5 years ago, when we were 13 at the time. Yeah it's a day one of us doesn't want to remember. 

~5 years ago Mars POV~ 

Well this stinks. Either this town is abandoned or something is off. I think I know the answer. 

Suddenly I hear gunshots and screaming coming from the local bar of this city. I run as fast as I can to bar to see people attacking a family within the bar. Dammit. There's to many of them, and I'm not strong enough to take them all. Then the glass of the bar bursts and it realizes tons of air and I see the parents fatally wounded and the girl only having minor scrapes and bruises. The girl notices me and yells to me "EITHER HELP OR RUN." Well if she wasn't a planet or attractive I would have ran, but since she is both I decided to help. I ran in front of her right as a guy was shooting something over here. 

"Fire Shield!"I yell using my fire magic to block the attack

She looks at me shocked as I grab her hand and run away from the bar. "YOU'LL THANK ME LATER!" When we get far enough from the bar, she hits me and starts to yell. 

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!!!?!?!?" She yells   

"OWWW! HEY, QUIT IT!!! I'M SORRY THAT I saved your life." I snap back sitting on the ground 

"I could have fended for myself, but you just had to save me and not my family. You should have saved them! I'm not important! My parents were the only family I had. You just had to save me." She says as I cross my arms and roll my eyes 

"You kidding? You're a planet and like it or not you are needed! Your family couldn't be saved! They were about to-" I start right as the girl starts to shout 

"ENOUGH! Stop saying they couldn't be saved! They could have been!  You don't know what it feels like to leave your dying family! You don't-" The girl shouts at me rage willing her eyes and words

"I don't know what it feels like? Don't just assume that I don't know what it feels like! I was 5 when my village was burned! I was 5 when that fire killed my mother! I was 7 the day my younger brother ran away! And everyday I worry about him! I.... I have had to life my life not knowing who my father was. So you, Princess, don't know how it feels." I say harshly as I study the expression on her face

I slump back against the tree and raise my scarf over my mouth and nose. 

"Venus," The girl says "It's Venus." 

"Mars. Well since you got no place to go, how about you come with me?" I start 

"Where?" Venus asks 

"To the Government. They have a team of celestial bodies, A.K.A, people like us. So, what do you say?" I try to say as welcoming as I can but honestly it wasn't very welcoming 

"Ummm.... I-I need to think about it......" Venus stutters leaning against the tree with her eyes glued to the ground 

I slide closer to her "I've got all the time in the world." 

I don't know how much time we spend just sitting there but it was enough time for it to become nightfall. I nudge Venus only to see she is asleep. I sigh and lift her onto my back so I can carry her without waking her.  After awhile of walking I feel a pair of arms wrap around my neck. 

"Thanks..." Venus mutters 

"Anytime." I quietly reply 

After that, we sparked a pretty awesome friendship which really it's totally obvious that we both have a crush on each other, but yeah. And so we became really good friends.
