A/N This is a Hamilton oneshot about Philip Hamilton and Theodosia Burr. Even if you haven't even heard of Hamilton, it's a good story to read. Remember, this is set in like the early 1800s. Thanks!
Not only is this a story about love. This is a story about friendship and adventure. Of hope and loss. My name is Theodosia Burr. This story starts when I was 9 years years, when I first met Philip Hamilton. He had curly dark brown hair that fell to his shoulders and his jacket sleeves that were too long for his hands. His face was sprinkled with freckles, too many too count. We became best friends immediately. However, we didn't see each other very often. Our fathers didn't like each other very much, but that's okay. When I did see him, we would play in a park upstate.
Jump to when we turned 15. We spent our time sneaking out of the house to look at the stars in a nearby meadow. We would lay down together, my head on his chest, trying to make up new constellations. He would tell jokes and I would always laugh, everytime. We would sometimes dance out there too. Philip always got dizzy and fall over. I would pull him up and look into his eyes, his hazel eyes. I wish I could look into those eyes forever. He was always such a tease, kissing my forehead and pretending to miss my lips. He would eventually give up and let me kiss him. He made me feel warm and, well, special. We then would run home, silently laughing. He would pull me into an embrace before he helped me climb up to my window.
We did this every night until Philip had to leave for college. We were both 17 and spent our last night like we would never see eachother again. He brought some apple cider and we toasted over it.
"To us!" he said.
"To us!" I replied. He pulled me close to him and we looked up again at our favorite stars. He kissed me, loving and passionately, before we ran back to my window.
"I'm going to miss you," I said, turning to hug him.
"I''m going to miss you too," he replied. He kissed the top of my head and ran off.
Two years went by. Philip sent me letters filled with love and promises, promises that he would return to look at the stars with me again.
I was 19 when he came back. He was taller than he was before he left. I walked along the sidewalk to where he said he would be dropped off. I could recognize his smile from a mile away.
"Philip!" I shouted over the crowd.
"Theodosia!" he shouted back. He ran through the crowd and embraced me.
"I've missed you," I said, letting his body send warmth throughout my whole body.
"I've missed you too," he replied.
I told him about how our fourth of July speaker, George Eacker, was making fun of his father. I seriously wish I didn't.
"I'll be right back," he said. He went to ask around to ask if people had seen Eacker around. Philip is smart. He wouldn't do something stupid right?
"Theodosia! Letter for you!" my father shouted from downstairs.
"Coming!" I said as I climbed down the stairs. I took the letter from my father and noticed that it was from Philip. It read:
Dear Theodosia,
Darling, I love you so very much. Please understand what I am about to do. George Eacker has stepped outside of his boundaries. He has insulted my father in front of a crowd and I will not let him get away with it. I will be dueling with him by the time you receive this letter. I love you Theodosia. If I don't see you again, just remember to take your time.
Love,
Philip Hamilton
I broke down into tears on the steps. I ran to the Hamilton house.
"Eliza! Eliza please!" I shouted as I knocked on the door.
"What is it Theodosia?"
"It's Philip! He's dueling George Eacker!"
We ran to where the duel took place. Alexander was already there by his side.
"Alexander! Did you know he was doing this?" Eliza asked.
"Philip! Philip just stay alive! Stay alive for me!" I pleaded. I kissed his forehead as he counted in french with his mother. "Philip, I love you."
He closed his eyes. His pulse suddenly stopped.
"No, no, no Philip! No!" I shouted. Eliza held my trembling body as the doctors took his body away.
"I love you," I whispered. He was gone. He's gone, forever.
A/N Sad, huh? Sorry but I really enjoyed writing this! Feel free to suggest a oneshot for anything! Thanks friends!
