Imagine. It was late, very late. You couldn't sleep. Too many thoughts were floating around in your head. So you went out and walked in the cold dark streets without any point but to try to forget. Maybe the buildings or the silence will help clear your mind.

You turned left to see an open park. You never been to this one. You walked through the unguarded gate. You shrugged and decided to go explore it. The empty alleys and benches had a sad tone. You could imagine it full of joy and kids running around at day. It was a total different aspect at night though.

Every step helped to erase any kind of thoughts. You past right next to what seems to be a lake. You smile slightly at it as you kept walking. But something caught your eye. You took a step back and looked again, just to be sure. And yes, someone was sitting there. It seemed to be a guy, at least it looks like it from the back. He was silent, just watching the water, his knees against his chest.

You didn't really know what to do? Stop and talk or just keep minding your own business? You didn't know him after all. But if it was you looking at your reflection, you would have like someone to stop, care and say a word. So you did.

You slowly walked to him and stood next to him. "Hi" you slowly said as you looked down at him. "Hey" he looked up and smiled politely before looking back at the water. Wow, he was cute. You sat cross-legged next to him. "What are you doing here at this late hour?" you asked casually. "I could ask the same thing about you" he replied and took a look at you. "I needed to clear my mind of all the bullshit" you shrugged. He chuckled. "Same" he added before looking back at the lake.

He seemed sad and somehow focus on the motion of the water. As if... if he was concentrating on this, the whole world would disappear. The silence filled the park again and the cold air filled your lungs.

"What's your bullshit?" he asked and broke the comforting silence. You sighed. "I got dumped yesterday" you explain. "Beat you. I got dumped a few hours ago" he said. It sounded like a joke, but neither of you were in the mood to laugh about it now. "Welcome into the sleepless night world" you exhale. "Wait. That sounded weird. I meant not sleepless nights like busy nights, sleepless nights like real sleepless nights" you rambled. "It's okay, I got it" he chuckled and smiled. For real. Mission accomplished.

"Anyway, that's not gonna happen tonight. Tonight I'm gonna get drunk" you say as you stood up from the ground. "Wanna come?" you propose to him. "No thanks" he said to his reflection. "I'll buy you a strong drink" you add. "Okay" he said and stood up too. You laughed. Once you both were standing in front of each other, you could see his eyes more clearly, the light of the moon reflecting through his dark curls. "Uhm, what's your name by the way?" you asked. "Darren. And you?" he asked back. He held his hand to you and you shook it. "Y/n". His hand felt good on yours. Soft. His eyes didn't leave yours the whole time. His hands slipped out of yours and you came back to reality. "Enough intros, let's get drunk" you exclaimed and headed to the entry of the park. You heard him chuckle behind you and you both headed out.
