Falling (poem)

Falling.

Thoughts whip at my face,

Beating at my back.

As I fall with disgrace,

I picture everything I lack.

Falling.

My lungs begin to collapse.

Fate is beginning to win.

I finally see my relapse,

Happiness is my sin.

Falling.

My vision blurs from tears,

These feelings cease to fade.

I recognise my sightless fears

Of the weak human I’ve made.

Falling.

I see the forgiving darkness.

It’s seemingly for the best.

My old self will embark for this.

To an unregretful rest.

Falling.

Into a new life.

To happiness I’ve lost.

To lack of strife.

But at what cost?
