Adrian's POV
Oh Rose, what have you gotten yourself into?
She fell asleep on my bed and although I've pictured her on my bed many time before since I met her, I never wanted it to be like this. Sad and weak.
I could tell from her eyes and aura that she was scared and Rose Hathaway rarely got scared. She was one of the best guardians I've ever met...well technically she was still a novice, but she had protected her charge, Princess Vasilisa Dragomir -last on her line, for two years out in the world and kept her alive until brought back to the Academy. Not to mention, she had fought and killed two Strigoi over the Christmas break, saving two Moroi - a royal and a non-royal, plus a Dhampir who had become by force a feeder for the Strigoi - one which was an ancient Strigoi who are way harder to kill. Then she had also fought on the Academy's attack last week and as a result she earned two molnija marks and the battle star that indicated to many kill to count on her neck before her promise mark.
She is a fierce and passionate woman, whom many fear and love. I was one of them. I knew the death of Belikov had had a toll on her. She loved the guy, even though he was older than her and he was her teacher she had fallen for him and he had felt the same way for her. I saw it every time they were together on their auras. I also saw how much they fought their feelings and wonder if either of them had declared the love for each other before he was forcedly turned.
I grabbed my jacket and car keys and headed for the main office. As I walked my way, I could only think of Rose, who now lays on my bed, sick and scared and sad. It kills me to see her this way and I only know of two reasons that could explain her sickness. Two which scared me either way but still preferred one over the other.
One. She could be pregnant. But despite her reputation, I don't think she ever crossed the line. Plus, I didn't know of any Moroi guy she was interested in, only Dimitri but he was Dhampir and they couldn't conceive with one another. And no Moroi could've taken advantage of her. She wouldn't hold back on defending herself from a sick bastard of a Moroi.
Two. She could have one of those rare diseases that would get past our great immune system. Like in the case of Victor, who had a terminal disease and had landed himself in prison for trying to force a Spirit user to heal him.
I informed the main office I will be making a trip to the nearest town. They offered me a guardian but I said it was not necessary since it was daylight and sign out. Plus, I didn't want anyone to report back what I was about to do.
Once I arrived to the nearest town, I headed for the first pharmacy I could find and bought a couple of pregnancy test, paying only with cash. The last thing I wanted was for either my aunt or dad to go through my card history and finding this purchase and then reporting back to the Academy.
I was a twenty-one year-old surrounded by underage girls and had a reputation of a womanizer. It would create quite a scandal, one my father would never let me live through.
I hid my purchased items on my coat before getting to the gates. I knew they had to inspect the car before they let me through.
I signed back in and headed for my apartment back at guest housing. I really hope no one had caught Rose in my bed or that she hadn't awakened and left.
If this came back negative which in a way I hoped it did, I would inform the school's clinic, so they could run tests on her. I could've asked them for a pregnancy test here, but like I said, I was twenty-one and she was underage, not to mention rumors here fly fast and the least thing I wanted was the "blood whore" term added to her reputation because of me.
