Rose's POV

I wake to the sound of a closing door. I sit up on the bed I lay and look around.

First I couldn't recognize the room but it soon became familiar.

Adrian's.

Christian, Lissa and I had spent quite some time here while Lissa and Adrian studied and practiced their magic.

I closed my eyes and take a deep breath to steady the nausea. The moment I let go of my breath, Adrian walked in the room.

"Hey Little Dhampir," he says to me with that lazy smile of his. "Feeling better?"

"A little bit." I say. I moved my legs to the side of the bed and when I pushed myself off the bed the whole room spun. I placed my hand on my forehead and sat back down.

"Little Dhampir..." Adrian started as he grabbed something from his coat pocket "I...I hope you don't get offended, but I bought these." He took out about five pregnancy tests. I felt my eyes widen and looked up at him in shock.

"You think I'm pregnant!?" It had never crossed my mind, for yes, I've had sex recently, but it was with a Dhampir! Dhampir with Dhampir equals no family! That's why our relationships are looked down upon. Because we are not able to enlarge our race. The reason why many male Dhampirs are never fathers. Some are lucky, like Dimitri, when Tasha offered him all that. She was a rare Moroi woman who was okay having Dhampir kids. Dimitri had turned down the offer because of me, but I knew how much he wanted to take it, not because he loved Tasha but because he loved the idea of being a father.

But it usually was the Dhampir women who had to take care of that by having either a one-night stand or an affair or a short term relationship with a Moroi who wouldn't stay behind. Because just like Moroi women hardly wanted to settle down with Dhampir men, Moroi men hardly wanted to settle down with Dhampir women.

Adrian didn't know what to say or do so he simply shrugged. "Why don't you just give it a try?"

Ugh! I knew they would come back negative, so I decided to humor him. Also just so I could get him off my back with that particular topic. Yes, if it was possible, I would rather be pregnant with Dimitri's baby than have some other unknown disease. Either/or scared me, but I have to admit, one was better than the other.

I grabbed all the pregnancy tests and headed for the bathroom.

Once I had settled them on the counter, I washed my hands and went outside.

"So?" Adrian asked.

"I have to wait at least three minutes." I answer him as I sat back down on his bed. I took a look at the clock and it read four in the afternoon, which is early morning for us on vampire schedule.

"Little Dhampir," again Adrian was taking his time to express what he wanted to say, "Um, I...I don't know what's going on with you, but I want you to know I am here for you. Anything you need or want. I want you to know you can count on me."

Aww Adrian.

I gave him a small smile and thanked him before I got up and went to the bathroom to check on the tests.
