She Has A Great Sense Of Humor
Alissa smiled shyly. It was a great first date, we talked for hours over dinner. The movie wasn't so great but we had fun turning it into our own version of Mystery Science Theatre much to the annoyance of those around us. She has a brilliant sense of humor and we laughed ourselves silly.
I brought her home and we now stood on her doorstep just staring at one another for a while. I didn't want the night to end. "I had a great time," I say smiling down at her. She just smiles back in response.
Why is this moment always so awkward? Why can't I be like the guys I see in those films that just reach out and passionately kiss the girl, making her swoon in contentment?
Instead my left foot shuffles, my hands are dug in deep, deep into my pockets and I begin to rock on my heels having trouble standing still.
I look away from her shy gaze trying to think of another stall.
Suddenly I feel a pair of arms around my neck and sweet lips that taste like strawberries begin to move against mine. Now her whole body is pressed against me and I feel myself loosing balance as she caught me mid rock and have to quickly grab hold of her to keep from falling.
She laughs against my lips as my hands make an inappropriate grab at her bottom. I'm mortified and so happy she has such a great sense of humor, for surely I deserved to get slapped. I laugh too and she is now leaning against me and I against the wall.
Our eyes meet and then I knew. I could kiss this girl for a lifetime. Her look turns more intense and her eyes flutter closed as I lean down and claim her for my own. Our lips touch, our hearts beat in sync, our breath mingles and so does a part of our souls.
"Smooth moves," she giggles when we come up for air. It wasn't exactly the sigh of contentment I was looking for but I am happy to know a second date is in our future.
