Chapter 4: Sunrises

A/N: The photo above is a screenshot of me and my friend's conversation right after she read chapter three and she chose a ship name for Raven and Nitro, Naven! (I honestly wasn't going to officially ship them or anything since they're both OCs but I didn't want to crush her enthusiasm). I just wanted to share this cuz it was funny. The Pizza Hut spam thing is Nitro's inside joke. Proceed reader. ^_^

The next day, Nitro went out to get an alt. mode and, to his relief, Raven volunteered to go with him.

The duo was hiding behind a boulder watching the cars zip across the highway below. "So... What exactly does this planet have to offer in terms of vehicles?" Nitro asked. Raven shrugged, "Depends on what you're looking for, speed, endurance, mobility, whatever. There's something for just about everyone here." Nitro nodded and turned his attention back to the highway.

Several minutes ticked by before Nitro saw something that caught his optic, a Chevy Silverado. He scanned it and transformed. "Not my type of car, but it definitely suits suits you," Raven commented. Nitro transformed back into his bipedal mode. "So, I guess we head back," Nitro said awkwardly, but it was more of a question than a statement. Raven shook her helm, "You now have to learn the humans' "rules of the road" as Nat would say. C'mon, it's easier on a road with less traffic."

Raven spent a few hours teaching Nitro the humans' traffic laws and whatnot. Nitro was a quick learner and soon the gray and silver Chevy Silverado and the black and teal Porsche Telsa were racing each other and just goofing off in general.

"Ok ok, how about from the upcoming mile marker to that rock formation?" Raven chirped. "You're on!" Nitro exclaimed, revving his engine. He put metal to the pedal and zoomed ahead, but little did he know that Raven was holding back on purpose. Nitro laughed triumphally, thinking he was going to win. Suddenly, Raven use the draft created behind Nitro and shot in front. Nitro swerved a bit from the sudden pass and was unable to reclaim first place. Raven cheered to herself.

"Ha! that's what, the sixth time I won, is it not?" She boasted. "Hmmm, I'd say fifth if you ask me," he chuckled. "No, that was totally six," she argued, but still keeping a light tone. "I thought we agreed the last one was a tie!" Nitro protested. "I only said that to make you feel better. Race you to the base, all or nothing?" She offered. "Oh, you're definitely on!" Nitro replied.

A little bit later, they zoomed into the base, transformed, and skidded to a halt. Nitro ended up being first. "Whoo! all or nothing, I won!" He laughed. Raven giggled, waving him off, "But I still won six to your two." Before Nitro could protest, Miko chirped up, "You two went racing without me?" Raven shrugged, "He learned the laws of driving and we had some free time so we just started racing." Miko only pouted in response.

While Raven went to hang out with the humans, Nitro went down to his own quarters. He sat down at his desk.'That was the most fun I've had in stellar cycles! Raven has barely changed since Iacon. She's still her witty, spontaneous, and fun self...' He thought. He shook his helm smiling as he got on his computer to kill some time. However, he was having a hard time concentrating on anything because his thoughts kept going back to Raven.

'Primus, why can't I stop thinking about her? I know I've missed her but still... Am I starting to like her?' he asked himself. Obviously, they were fast friends, but was he already thinking about something more? Or maybe he's always liked her but he just now realizing it. Finally, he gave up and shut down his computer. Nitro knew the "who likes who" game was for younglings, but he couldn't help but wonder.
