joining the companions

For the first time in my life I was about to get something actually done. I was going to join the companions. Now I meat them and thought that they were hunters that live in Whiterun. But I never really understood why they were outside killing a giant or why they have a boat for a roof. But I said hey why not join my first group of idiots and when I say idiots I mean like patrick star idiots. I mean like they have a boat as their roof come on really a boat why not a rock or something. But thats the best they've got? So I joined them and did a couple missions and after 2-3 missions they took me under the under forge and from that day on I wasn't the average man.I mean like I turned into the most viscous man/beast alive.
