Another Attack

All of a sudden, I felt something else kick in. As I was staring at the ceiling, my breath suddenly caught. It felt like a million flaming arrows puncturing wounds on my chest especially. I know this pain and I cannot believe that it’s happening right now. I tensed, praying that this would go away. Sadly, I can’t revert my breathing this time. Then my neck and chest retracted just like that. Shit, this can’t be happening right here and right now. I started to microscopically tremble and cold sweat started to drip down my back and the side of my head. The pain and the pressure in my chest kept on increasing and increasing and worsening at every second. I closed my eyes and tried to control it but I couldn’t, I was too late. My trembling increased and I started breathing rapidly. I mean, a hundred times per second. “Ally!” Isom shook me,

My eyes shot open, but no words came out. I lost the ability to speak. I was just standing there with my mouth hanging open. The cry for help was stuck in my windpipe.

            “Hey, are you alright?”

            “Ally?” AJ patted my cheek,

I slowly blinked, slouching even more against the wall.

A small gasp escaped Isom’s mouth, “No.”

“What? What’s going on?” AJ stammered in slight panic,

“Okay, AJ, calm down.” Isom said with a wave of a hand, “I need your help.”

At every counting seconds, my breath got quicker and quicker. Thankfully, my lungs haven’t collapsed yet and I’m still trying to stuff oxygen into my lungs.

Isom swung my arm around his shoulders and made AJ do the same thing. He started pacing quickly, making AJ follow his every footstep. “Listen, I think your sister’s having an asthma attack- she’s going to be alright, I’ve experienced worst.”

            “WHAT?” AJ looked at me,

I gave him a little confirming nod. They were dragging a lifeless body across the hallways.

“It’s going to be alright, kiddo.” Isom reassured, “Let’s just hope that you don’t have to be intubated again.”

My attempt to gasp turned into wheezes of breaths. I started to wheeze loudly.

“Shit. AJ, hold her. Her lip’s turning blue already.”

AJ scooped me up bridal style and I could feel his heart pounding against his chest.

Isom ran in a direction, “O’MALLEY!”

My ear was pressed against AJ’s chest and I was listening to his loud and quick heartbeats. I started to blink slower and slower, going in and out of consciousness.

“Hey, hey, hey!” He softly slapped my cheek, “Smiley! A-Ally!”

My shaky hands clutched tighter on to his collar, fighting against the pain in my chest.

“Y-you’re going to be okay, I promise.” I felt him sit down, “You’re going to be okay. It’s going to be okay.”

Isom came back, “I can’t find O’Malley anywhere!”

“Ally! Stay with me!” AJ shook me,

My vision started to blur and voices around me started to muffle.
