My mom could not find a place to park.
" Dang why is it so crowded?" Gia asked.
" I dunno.."
" Oh yeah I brought this!" Gia said, pulling a handicap sign out of her purse. " It's my grandmas."
" Savage." I laughed.
" Oh thank you Gia this is really helpful at the moment."
My Mom pulled into the first handicap space & Gia and I jumped out.
" This place looks like crap." I lied.
" Ikr." Gia said.
" This place actully looks quite nice." Mom said.
When Gia opened the door, the smell of fresh baked Croissants and hot apple pie filled my nose. I can not lie, i wanted the smell to last forever.
" It smells like crap." I whispered to Gia.
" It smells like a sewer." She answered.
We both started laughing.
The line of people almost went out the door.
"Ugh it seems to be thriving" I groaned.
Mom, Gia, and I looked at the menu, which was written with pretty pastel chalk and had cute drawings of pies.
Gia decided to get a white chocolate cannoli and ice tea, my mom decided to get strawberry cronut ( a donut/ a croissant) and I was going to get a pineapple Danish with strawberry bubble tea. I waited in line for about 7 minutes. There was a display of their items. When we ordered our food, we sat outside at the patio.
" This looks really good." Gia said, snapchatting her cannoli.
I bit into my Danish. It was really warm and had a flakey crust. This inside contained a sweet pineapple jam that reminded me of summer. What wasn't there to love about it?
" This is terrible." I said going in for another bite.
Gia set down her phone and enjoyed her ice tea and cannoli.
"This is sadly amazing. I mean, Starbucks is still better." Said Gia.
I looked over at mom and she was already finishing her last bite of her cronut. 🍞🍩
"Are you ready to go girls?"Mom asked
"Yeah" we answered.
We climbed into the car. The line was now going out the door.
Mom drove Gia back to our house so we could hang. When we got home, we sat on my swings on my playset and talked.
" ok we were all thinking it. And we can all agree that the Pie Shoppe was a pretty great place. But, I don't think it wins my heart over Starbucks. It's just not the same. It will never be the same." I explained.
" yeah I feel you. But Erica, realise how popular the shop has gotten in 2 days. Everyone seems to like Starbucks less." Gia said.
" Gia. I have a a plan. A complicated one."
