Chapter Seven: Ashley's Friend

"Okay so tell me again what happened?" Ashley asks looking stunned. "He walked me to my car and when I turned around after putting my guitar in the backseat he grabbed me and he kissed me. Then he apologized and left." I explain it again as I grab a water and sandwich to put on my tray.

" What the hell?"She says shaking her head.
" I know. I have never had a guy kiss me then apologize for it." I frown. "Am I just bad at this?" I laugh feeling confused.
" Do you want me to have Logan talk to him?" She offers as she swipes her card.
"God no. I am embarrassed enough. Don't say anything to anyone including Logan." I sigh sliding my card through.

" Hi." Logan nods at me when I sit down."Hey." I smile.

" Hey babe." Ashley smiles kissing him.

" So one more practice and then tomorrow is the big show. How do you feel?" Logan asks as he eats his lunch.

"I am excited. Nervous but excited." I say taking a sip of my water, before I can swallow I see Finn hand and hand with the blond heading towards us.

"Are you okay?" Ashley asks as I try and recover from my choking fit. "Fine" I manage to say between coughs.

"Hey." Finn says when he reaches the table. " This is Alexis , Alexis this is my cousin Logan, his girlfriend Ashley and Ashley's friend Riley." He says casually introducing us to his new friend.

Ashley's friend? Did I get down graded from being his friend too? It's too confusing.

" Finn tells me you are singing with the band tomorrow. That is so cool." Alexis smiles sitting down next to me.

" Uh yeah, it's going to be fun. Crud I have to meet Denny before class he needs a copy of my notes." I say jumping up and grabbing my tray. One day I'll actually eat lunch.

" Text me later Ash. Bye guys, nice meeting you." I say throwing my trash away and walking out of the cafeteria.

What the hell was that? I think as I make my way across campus. Why am I jealous? Why do I care?

"Riley, hello?" Brandon smiles waving a hand in front of my face. " Sorry." I cringe coming out of my thoughts. " Is everything okay?" He asks concerned. " Yeah, today has been a bit crazy. I am not even close to being ready for the test today." I lie.

" You will do great." He smiles touching my arm.

Ah why can't there be tingles? Instead there is just nothing. I give him a polite smile.

"You are too sweet. How is your day going?" I ask as we continue to walk. "It's better now." He smiles.

" I have practice tonight. If you get done with the band thing maybe you could swing by?" He suggests casually.

" That could be fun. Just text me when you think practice might end tonight. If I get done in time I will try and swing by. Maybe we can get a tea or something after?" I offer. It is nice to see him get excited about the possibility of hanging out with me. I just wish I got as excited.

"Okay. Good luck on your test." He smiles surprising me by kissing me on my cheek. " Thanks." I manage to say with a smile.

Not even a tingle from the kiss NOTHING. What is wrong with me? I think as I walk away. Why can't the nice guy be what I want?

I take my seat in class and continue go through the last 24 hrs. I don't even notice the set of eyes staring at me until he speaks.
" Hey." Sebastian says taking a seat next to me. " Hey, I didn't know you were in this class?" I smile.
" I had to switch classes due to a scheduling issue so this is my new time slot. looks like I picked the right class." He smiles which causes me to blush.
" I am glad you switched. It is nice to have a friendly face. Williams is brutal." I laugh. " Well we could always be study buddies." He says smoothly. "I suppose we could." I nod and take out my notes.

The rest of the afternoon moves by pretty quick I get a text from Ashley saying that Finn is an asshole and to just ignore him. I reply back that I am FINE and that I will see her soon.

Shay is not in the room when I return from classes. I smile when I see her note that says she is finally getting some attention from her boyfriend and not to wait up.

I freshen my makeup up and change into a pair of skinny jeans and throw on a longer green tank, this way if I do meet up with Brandon I won't have to go back to my room to change. I grab my sweater and guitar as I head out the door for the club.

" You weren't kidding about Williams." Sebastian smiles at me as I get out of my car. " He can be a bit intense. He is brilliant but intense." I shrug grabbing my guitar from the back seat.
" I am just glad I have a great study partner that can help me." He nudges my shoulder as we walk to the back entrance.

"Hey bestie." Ashley smiles and grabs me as soon as I walk through the door. "Hey, what's going on?" I ask seeing that she is being overly nice. "Finn is bringing Alexis to practice. I just wanted to give you a heads up." She says trying to spare my feelings. "It's fine, we are friends , well at least I am a friend of a friend according to him." I laugh. " I am here to have fun." I smile walking towards the stage.

" Hey Riley." Tyler and Keith nod as I walk up. "Hi." I smile back.

" We are going to go through a full set. This is how tomorrow night is going to go." Logan explains to us.

" Riley we are going to open with your song if you don't mind?" He asks looking at me. "That's cool" I casually nod as I watch Finn and Alexis walk in together.

" Okay cool then we will do this song and I wanted to try this one tonight to see how you do. We will do these on with out you and close with this one. I will need you for this one." Logan explains showing me the set sheet.

" Okay boss." I smile grabbing my guitar and walking to one of the mic stands. Everyone else takes their places and I start to play alone slowly they join me and we blend into their song.

" Do that tomorrow! Do exactly that." Logan says at the end of the song. I nod and we begin the next song.

" Do exactly what we did tonight and we will be golden." Logan smiles at us. "Great job tonight Riley." They guys say tapping me on my shoulder.

" I have a small question. I hate to be a girl but what should I wear tomorrow?" I ask feeling dumb. I can hear Finn laugh, but I ignore him.

" Do you have black jeans and maybe a white tank?" Logan suggests. "Ashley can help you." Logan smiles at Ashley who gives him a nod. "Yeah I can!" She yells over to us.

" Until tomorrow." Logan says doing a playful bow. I jump off the stage and grab my guitar case to put my guitar away.
"You did really great tonight." Sebastian smiles placing his hand on my shoulder. "Thanks, it felt better tonight. I felt more comfortable." I say my eye catching Finn who is glaring at us at the moment.

" I was wondering if you wanted to get some coffee or something?" He smiles helping me carry my guitar case. I look down at my phone and see that Brandon texted. His practice doesn't end for another hour. " I actually promised a friend I would stop by his practice. Maybe another night?" I suggest. " Yeah sure." He says with a disappointed nod.

" You were amazing." Alexis giggles. " Thanks." I smile back at her getting ready to walk out. " Good night." I wave grabbing my guitar case and walking out of the club.

I put my guitar in my trunk and when I turn to get in my car Finn is standing against my door.

"Yes?" I ask casually. " I just wanted to say I am sorry about yesterday,love." He says looking at me as I walk closer. " Okay, you said that yesterday too. I get it." I say giving him a half smile. " Is there something else? I am kind of running late." I say looking down at my phone. "No, I will see you tomorrow night." He doesn't give me a chance to respond before he disappears back into the club.
