"Adult male gunshot coming in. Riley gear up I want you on this one." Dr. Jennings directs me.
"On it." I say grabbing my face shield and gloves.
"Here we go." He winks at me at the Ems team rushed the patient in.
"Trauma room 2"He directs them the EMS team as they push the gurney past us.

There is blood every where. Me and another nurse cut the patients clothes off and try to locate the entry point of the gun shots.
They move him to the table and Dr. Jennings barks order at me. I don't have time to process anything but what he is directing me to do.

" I have entry point." I call out when I see the bleeding wound on his side. " I have second point." The other nurse calls out.  " Correction I have second and third." She calls out.

"He's crashing. Everyone clear." He says shocking the patient. His vitals stabilize.

"He's awake, Quinn see if you can get any info." He barks at me.

"Sir can you hear me." I ask staring down at his swollen face that has blood splatter across it.

He mumbles something but I can't hear him.
"You are at University hospital. You were shot." I explain. His eyes look directly at mine while I check his pupils. His eyes look familiar.
"Riley." He chokes. I look down and I see the tattoos on his chest. Fuck! I scream in my head.
"Charlie?, Charlie?" I ask again and he tries to nod.

" Charlie do not move you have a bullet that is close to your spine. Do you understand it is very important that you hold very still." I lean  over his face. His eyes look to me and he is terrified.

"Patients name is Charlie Bishop." I say filling his chart in.

"Quinn we are moving to the operating room. I want you ready to assist. Let's go." He orders me.

"On it!" Is all I can manage to say. I tear off my shield and disposable scrubs and gear up in a new set.

"Great job Quinn." Dr. Jennings tells me as I watch the orderly's  move Charlie out of surgery into intensive care.

"Thanks." I say feeling the adrenaline run through me. I just used my own hands to help save the man who almost ruined my life.

"Smile Quinn that was a win. You just helped save a mans life. Have you submitted your request yet for placement?" He asks as we walk towards the main desk.

" No, I wanted to wait until I pass my license exam." I manage to answer.

" Well you have me as a reference. I would love to have someone like you on my team." He smiles signing off on the chart.

"Riley you are off hon." Susan our shift leader informs me as I strip off my disposable scrubs and throw them away.
"I'm heading to the showers." I nod mechanically.

"Wait Quinn can you take this chart to the patients room." The attending nurse orders me.

"Got it." I say grabbing the chart from her and running over to intensive care ward.

"Hi I have the gunshot patients chart." I tell the attending nurse who barely glances at me.

"Room 111. Go ahead and put it in there. The doctor should be in there in a minute." She directs me while she answers the ringing lines.

Okay I am just dropping the chart off. I tell myself as I walk into his room.
"I have his chart." I say when I see the doctor in the room.
