Once things were sorted back out, life was a little more normal again. A few redcaps and shadows were taken care of within the days that followed the burning. Adrian found Fredric the cat back in town, and Kaliah decided that Pine, Juniper, Heather, and Fern were all welcome to stay at her house. I went over to help them figure out bedding arrangements. When I asked whether or not her parents would mind, she doubled over in laughter.

"What? I'm honestly worried! What kind of parent is entirely okay with four more children randomly added to the household!" She managed to stop laughing and wiped the tears from her eyes.
"It's just so funny that you still believe I have parents! Have  you ever even seen them?" I thought about it. The truth is, no one ever saw Kaliah's parents, even at parent teacher conferences. She had always said they kept to themselves.
"But didn't you say their names were Nereza and Tioto?" She shrugged, and replied.

"Well, that's what I said, and that's what they were. My parents died when I was really small, before we even knew about your world. Those were their names, and I just used them for a bit of an alibi. In truth, I've just been paying the rent for this house myself." She half smiled, and raised her hands.
"But what are you gonna do? It doesn't matter anymore!" I raised an eyebrow at her attitude, and spoke again. "But how did you get the money? You're just a kid."
She smiled wider than should be possible. "People will pay quite a bit to have things banished to the Fire Pits." She caught herself once she saw my face.
"Dont worry! I didn't banish any people!" I smiled in relief, and shook my head.
"You sure do have a knack for these things don't you?" She nodded. "Yeah, I suppose I kind of have to."

School was about the same. We had a whole new group of students in our class, however. An elf, a woodland, a pixie, and a satyr. I'll admit, it was rather odd to see them all in jeans and sweaters instead of tunics and cloaks. Even more odd to have them trying to sit still at little wooden desks in a tiny classroom.

"The reaction of the particles with the metals cause bubbling and deterioration around the- Pine, put that down!"
Science class was always a bit of adventure too. Pine and Fern found it funny to light random vials on fire, and watch them burn. It is to be known that Heather's hair (which was already rather short to begin with) has lost about an inch to the flames of botched experiments. In retaliation, she stuffed Fern's and Pine's beds full of rotting carrots and turnips. (I helped!)

Turns out, we weren't the ones to burn the Darkworld down. The adults had done all of the work, and we were just giving ourselves false credit. Once we found that out, we stopped talking about it altogether. Well, except for Fennec. He would tell anyone who listened about how he (and a few friends that weren't worth mentioning) had destroyed the Darkworld and saved us all!

Well, I think I've explained about as much as I can on this topic. Really, if you wanted to know so much, you could have just asked Fennec. He would have told you loads more than I did! Ah well. That's all I have to say for now.

Signing off,
Jess Winstram ;)
