"Gave you everything I had, Everything and no less? Didn't I do it right? Did I let you down?"
~ Take it all, Adele ~
People always took notice when she walked in the room; Skylar was just one of those people that you couldn't help but stare at for a while. However, today they were staring a little more than usual.
Scott sat up, ignoring the girl who had been talking to him about prom for the first ten minutes of school.
She had decided to come in after staring at her ceiling became too much to bear. Skylar had been back to her house four times in the last three days. Not really doing much because by law, it was no longer her property but she did walk around the side and sit in the back garden, just lying and feeling the grass beneath her.
Rachel was also looking, she pursed her lips at Skylar's attire but managed to keep her mouth shut. One look at her pinched face and Skylar couldn't help it; she'd been without any real human contact ever since her Mum died except with her siblings whom she had not seen since she dropped them off three days ago.
Walking right in front of Rachel's desk, she plastered a fake smile on just as Rachel had when she humiliated Skylar in class a couple of weeks back. "Hey Rach," she said and the witch narrowed her eyes. There were patches of orange on her cheeks where the makeup wasn't completely blended. "I know you have something to say to me- I dare you to say it." Rachel blinked, one of her eyes squinting significantly more than the other.
"Sky," Scott had gotten up and closed the distance between them.
"Great, you're here too!" she exclaimed and threw her arms up in the air. "All the people that hate me all gathered on the same table, we should celebrate because you've gotten what you wanted haven't you?"
He knew where she was going with this, but he didn't want her to start anything that she'd regret later. "Skylar," he said softly.
Skylar poked his chest and grinned. "You know, I overheard something." She then pointed at Rachel. "She wants three of your children with the same gorgeous green eyes- granted the sex is good." Sky winked at Rachel and she gasped. Scott grit his teeth.
"Listen here you little witch I was going to be at least civil to you but I'm glad that you're Mum died! You don't deserve to have anybody let alone him!" she gestured to Scott. "You're a selfish-"
Scott fixed her with a steely glare which stopped Rachel dead in her tracks. Skylar didn't seem to get the message though as she continued with the digs, "personally I think you two would be great together- a match made in hell!" she cheered.
"Skylar!" Scott finally yelled and took her wrists, only squeezing slightly so that she'd get the point.
Acting out immediately, it reminded her of the time James had tried to grab her. Scott stumbled back and knocked over a table while the girls squealed. They locked eyes and Skylar faltered. Her mouth went dry as the rest of the class stared at her silently. Tearing her eyes away from Scott's, she desperately wanted to run away but instead made herself speak up before leaving. She turned to Rachel and smiled another fake smile. "Dear, his eyes are blue."
Skylar flew down the stairs, coming so close to tripping several times. She was blinking back tears by the time Scott caught up to her outside of the school buildings. "Skylar!" he yelled and she stopped abruptly so that he almost knocked her over when he couldn't stop as quick. "I'm sorry," he said, referring to grabbing her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah but don't worry about me, I'm not important," her voice was laced with acid.
His forehead creased and he took another step forward. "Sky-" he reached out.
