One day River and Megan were watching as other fairies went to fairy parties.

"When will you go to fairy parties?" Megan asked.

"Next week, I'll go to my first fairy party." River answered.

When fairies were 15 they would start going to fairy parties where they could meet new fairies and learn new things from each other. At her first fairy party, River went out in the woods at night. She and the other young fairies were going to meet the wood fairies. Some of them were going to see how wood fairies make their medicine while others were learning how to make plants healthy. River wandered from tree to tree. She decided to stay at a large oak tree where fairies were learning to make a magical medicine. A fair faced wood fairy wearing a brown hood smiled, unlike other wood fairies, she had blonde hair rather than brown, and her eyes were a dazzling green. When River approached, the wood fairy handed her a tulip and said

"Use a tulip and some grass to make a powerful medicine that cures magical snake bites."

River took the tulip and went inside. River ground the tulip petals into some grass and cast a simple warmth spell on it and it sizzled turning into the blue medicine, sprinkled the pollen on it being careful not to stir it in, and she wrapped it in the grass to keep it fresh and put it on her belt. The wood fairy there was impressed that she did it so well on her first time.

After they met the wood fairies, River fell asleep. When she woke up, she saw that the other fairies were gone and she was in a different part of the woods. She remembered where the wood fairies lived so she thought she would ask them how to get out of the woods and get home. As she flew slowly towards one of the homes she saw a wood fairy flying to a tree, to say that there was a visitor. River gathered many red and yellow flowers as she walked, the proper thing to present to a host in this forest. She then plucked a long piece of yellow grass and tied the bouquet off in a ribbon. River walked up the staircase towards the door. At the door, River blew into a small horn near the door. A few moments later, the door began to open.
