River got to the bottom of the mountain she saw a large golden unicorn and when she was close to it she saw that it was blind.

"Who are you?" The unicorn asked when she smelled River.

"My name is River." River said "Who are you?"

"I am Jennifer."She said. "I'm looking for the Vali flower; will you help me find it? Please?"

"Of course I will." River answered.

River and Jennifer looked for the Vali flower (a Vali flower is a magical flower that will cure blindness) under bushes and at the tops of trees, when River finally found one. Then River rubbed the nectar around Jennifer's eyes.

"I CAN SEE!" Jennifer neighed excitedly. "Thank you very much; what can I do to thank you enough?"

"Well...You could give me a ride to the dark side of the forest." River answered.

"I don't see why you would want to go there, but I will take you. But be careful, the goblins leave the ground on the dark side. They might kill you." Jennifer answered.

" I will be careful. Don't worry."

Then River hoisted herself up on Jennifer's back and rode to the dark side of the forest. When River was very close to the river she saw something in the water but when it saw her it went behind a rock. When River got off of Jennifer, she stepped on a small, cold, round object. She picked it up to discover that it was a golden ring with a blue stripe around the band.

"What is this? Blue gold?" River asked.

"That is a magic ring," Jennifer replied, "It unlocks the magic within one's soul. When it is held in the hand of who it was made for, it reveals the truth in itself. Much like a fairy's wings, it is a key. You should drop it in the river and bury it in the bottom so the river's magic can carry it to whom it is intended."

River thanked her and walked towards the river. When River reached the river she did as Jennifer said, she buried the ring in the magic river. She then stood up and saw a catfish. The catfish asked,

"Why are you, a fairy, in the dark side of the forest?"

When River saw a magical birth mark on the catfish's tail she knew she could trust him and she said,

"I am looking for the magic lake that can take me home, which way should I follow the river?

The catfish said "Follow it downstream. You can use my boat."

Soon she came upon a split in the river. She went back to the catfish and asked, "Which way do I go at the split in the river?"

The catfish answered, "You should go on the side that goes east."

After going on the east on the river, River saw the lake. Before she could reach it she got very tired, so she went ashore and fell asleep. She dreamed that the river was flowing to the dark palace of the dark fairies that was in Darkling, a legendary land of eternal darkness. She dreamed that the dark fairies had hundreds of fairies in cages and that there were screams of pain and that fairies were always afraid of what would happen to them next. When she woke up, she was shaken by the dream, but kept following the river.

When she reached the lake she noticed five wood fairies in the lake. She asked, "Why are you in the lake?"

The oldest one said, "We are waiting to go home but we can't go anywhere. We can't even get out of the lake. Don't get trapped too! Run!"

River paid no attention to him and got in the lake anyway and wished to be home. A large light appeared and began swirling. The fairies were pulled towards the light. River touched the center and a hole appeared in the center and they all fell through.
