A Fairy Tale

Chapter 5 The Journey Begins at Home

          Suddenly the fairies found themselves in their homes and it was as if they had never left. River told her father about how she was left behind and about Aspen, Mia, Nicole, and the catfish, and asked about the dream she had. Then River asked, "Why did the lake only take the fairies home when I wished to go home?"

             Her father told her that it wasn't the lake wasn't that was magical,but that she had the magic. Her father said it was because she was born in the magical river, that she was the one child that could be born in that river. The Lady Tamber lived near the magical river and had every pregnant fairy come see her to find out if their child was going to be the one to destroy the evil in fairyland.

         "But why did the Lady Tamber choose me?" she asked.

            Joshua said, "Because the Lady Tamber looked into you heart and saw that it was pure, pure enough for the magic of life. There are legends about this magic, some say it is a white dragon, others say it is a unicorn. No one knows for sure except Mia and other seer's like her. She is a seer, a fairy that is partly connected to the magic. "

        "But why did I have that dream?" She asked.

           Joshua said, "The dark fairies wanted you to think it was a trap and runaway. But you had trust in Mia even though you didn't know her."

       "Why did the ice fairies treat me unkindly? River asked. "Ice fairies are known for being kind and gentle."

       "They were being controlled by the dark fairies," answered Joshua.

       "And why did they bow down to me when I came down?"

        "After you made it to the top of the mountain the dark fairies no longer had control over the ice fairies and the ice fairies could then see who you really are," Joshua answered. "Because you were born in the magical river, your first breath allowed fairies and many other creatures to better control their magic. But it also gave magic to the dark fairies as well as other evil creatures."

          "Who is the ruler of the dark fairies?" River asked.

        "A fairy named Ina who lives in Darkling. Many have tried to survive the journey into this place, but none have ever returned." Joshua answered. "Your mother was one of them."

       "I will go there and destroy whatever gives power to the evil." River assured her father.

       "You must destroy the black orchid. Destroy it with fire, and place strangling plants in a circle around it when you burn it."Joshua said. "But keep happy thoughts within your mind or you will slip into the spell of evil, like all the others who have attempted to destroy it."

           River went back to the Lady Tamber and was crowned princess, ruler of Fairyland and River received Lady Tamber's own crown of golden flowers and jewels and a magical cloak that could make her invisible.River also requested that Aspen be made a duchess for her help. Then she started a journey to destroy all the evil in fairyland.
